It won't fit your transmission, so that will be the first batch of problems.

After that, the motor mounts won't line up, either.

For all the bullshit to put in a 165 HP 4.3, I'd definitely look into what it takes to swap in a V8--because both are equally difficult.

tell your friend that 4.3L and up except rear wheel drive 3.8L are 90 degree and that the 2.8L and such small engines are 60 degree

nothing interchanges, bolts patterns all different, intakes different widths

good luck

Unless you are actually only talking about the 4.3- 1 11/16" TB to replace the 2.8- 1 3/8" bore.

But then the holes in the manifold are still small and the inj are now bigger so it will be pig rich more then likely.
Your mileage will take a dive and it will probably run like crap till you burn a new chip for it to tune the fuel tables.

When your all done it might make a little more power but that would be more from the tuning then the TB!!

The injectors are interchangeable you will probably need new o-rings it is a simple change as far as how much power I dont know I got this link from bill usn1 (thanks bill) I'm gonna try and post a link you might have to type it in yourself its to a page on how to take them out and how to adjust the fuel pressure on you tbi

if you want more hp for free
a taller air filter try a 90 dodge van w/5.2 318
the timing can be advanced a liitle
bypass or plug some of your vacum lines do this one line at a time so if you un hooked something you shouldn't have you can change it back
if you have a manual tranny you can bypass you vacum canister (not to be confued with the charcol canister) it you have a auto you need it for your tranny to shift right
if you still cant get enough power put a 350 LT1 in it
good luck

Another option would be to swap in a 3.4L motor instead. It bolts directly in place of the 2.8 (same tranny, same accessories, etc). GM sells a crate version specifically for this purpose.

If converting the truck to V8 power is too much work then I'd go that route (or rebuild what you've got).

Check out S10-extremists. Look for an article in teh Tech Section (top left side of the page). They cover the 2.8L options pretty well.

Here's teh link, and it works.
