well i figured that it does shift 2 times, i guess its just really low geared whitch is kinda odd, it came out of a 78 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 long bed, but i have all the running gear of that truck so the only diference is the body and 4.3L

check the vac switch (I forget the proper name) on the rear of the tranny. Make sure the hose has vac from the engine and test the switch to make sure it holds vacuum.

Is it getting vacuum?

Does it hold vacuum when you test it?

You can adjust most of them by turning a screw in the vacuum inlet.

well I figured out the trany, it was in 4 wheel drive I guess, but the front drive line wasnt spining when the transfercase shifter was all the way forword, I found that 2 high is one position from all the way back and all the way back is eather 4 high or 4 low i dont know, but then why wasnt the front drive line moving if it was in some 4 wheel drive or what ever it is all the way forward.
