14 bolt front end !!!

Maybe this is a completely insane thought, but heres what im thinking. take a 14 bolt ff rear end and put a set of those new Spidertrax 1550 knuckles on it. 60 degrees of steering would kick ass on my 8 foot box extended cab. It would be so nice to have a turning radius under 70 feet. Tell me if I am crazy, apparently you never see it coming when you go nuts. with a four link setup with arms that would clear the tires at full lock.

This has been covered before, Google search 14 bolt front axle.
For the time and expense done to convert it, you will have been able to build a rock solid Dana 60 and still have enough left over for a couple 12 packs.

There's a thread, probably quite a few, but this one was about a year or two ago and should give you all the info you desire. It was in Gen4x4.

If you did it, you'd better paint the cover John Deere green 'cause that fawker'll PLOW!!! A 60 is bad enough. It would be cool though, and fairly unlikely to break...

Its not about the 14 bolt!!!

maybe some of you missed the point... its not about the 14 bolt center section, I just happen to have access to a bunch of them. Cheap and indestructible. It s more about the 1550 Knuckles and 60 degrees of steering lock. a stock Dana 60 has about 45 degrees of steering angle. the more wheelbase you have the more your wheels need to turn. I am not talking about a CJ-5 im talking about a freekin long truck.

dont the knuckles give you the angle of steering reguardless of what center section you use?

dana 70 hd front if you want to build an indestructable front end. alot simpler than a 14bFF because dana 60 shafts (i.e. spidertrax 1550's) will fit in a 35 spline dana 70 diff.

Yeah I like the D ring's too. But 14 bolt front is worthless besides a snow plow.
