455 swap into chevy
I have come across an old buick with a 455 th400 for a good deal, i just blew up a carb 305 in my 81 3/4 ton 4x4. it has a th350 and a 203 full time. just wondering how a 455 would bolt into the truck. what are the big differences in chevy and buick parts, tranny motor mounts etc. thank you.

Your choices are:
-find a new 350, much easier and less hassle -install the 455 and mate it to your existing trans with an adapter from Advance Adapters -Run the 455 and trans, but change out rear tailshafts and housings with a 4x4 TH400 tailshaft and housing. Motor mounts not sure on, prolly not that big of a deal.

I am not 100% sure but I was always told the 0lds 455, buick 455, and the chevy 454 were pretty much identical. I have a 454/th400 in my truck so if there is anything you wanna compare notes on tell me.

i would take what you got and find the olds 350 diesel motor mounts and then you got a drop in as far as motor mounts then youll want the bop t-400 with 4x4 tail shaft for the strenth and simplicity then just pop in a 205 because the 203 chains dont like abuse very much

There are some things that are worth the time and money doing, but trying to figure out a way to throw some shit together is tough.
I would highly recommend going with a rebuilt 350 to replace your 305. Its a direct bolt in replacement. The 455 Buick is a torque monster for sure, and i would get the adapter from Advance adapters and run the existing trans that you have. If you really want to run the Buick motor.
