Which 3.4 are you referring to, the ones used in 93-95 camaros and firebirds (dont know much about this one) , or the 3.4 (basically a bored out GM 3.1) used in 1996 lumina and pontiac minivans and grand ams.
Both of these are 60 Degree V6. The share the same bellhousing as your 2.8 and I think would swap in fairly easy, only trouble would be rewiring or transplanting the EFI setup in to your rig. Personally, I would chose the 3.1 over the 3.4, more of them available, and pretty stout. The 3.1 and 3.4 both, I recall, have some head gasket problems. I assume you are think about swapping this in to a s10 and if it were me, I would chose the gm 3.8L, a 90 degree V6, but shares the same bell housing pattern as your 2.8. I absolutely love this motor, powerful, yet gets good mileage. I would find a Series 2 from a 1996 or newer, this is a stout motor, plenty available too, a supercharged version is also available. They are known to upper intake plenum problems, but a new plenum and gaskets for $150 fixes that problem easily. This motor was introduced in 1988 and can be found an many GM cars. |

the head gasket issues i have seen were resulting from broken head bolts. could be more reasons... but torque to yeild bolts yeilding far too early for my taste.

Sentences buddy, kind of hard to figure out what you are asking there. If it were me I would run the 3.4 water pump, because it was made for that motor, the oil pan too.
For cooling, nows the perfect time to upgrade to electric fans, since most 3.4s in cars had them, might as well use them too. |

obviously you dont know what your talking about becouse you cant use the oil pan becouse it wont let the motor set in all the way. it hits the cross bar.
and the water pump doesnt have the same pully on it and my old pully wont fit on it .i wanted to talk to someone who has done this swap before. |

Well I have never done the swap, and a don't know any information about this exact swap, and apparently no else does either. But when I can understand what your looking for, I can be a nice guy and try to find some info. Dont know if you looked here yet, but give this a try:
