engine swap 91 G20 from 91 Blazer

91 G20 engine swap with 91Chev Blazer Engine

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WE pulled out 350 tbi out of g20 van . There are some things different that we will have to change (Main bracket , therm housing etc. ) The tbi seems to be different ( the bracket for throttle will not bolt on the tbi .The one on g20 has holes to allow the bracket (Could switch tbi but the one on blazer is al ot cleaner and looks newer. Anyway of keeping tbi off blazer? Do I need to change other things like map sensor , oil sensor , o2 sensor ? they all seem to line up with wiring ( haven't installed engine yet but looks like they will ).
When i sort that all out with some answeres I would like to know what to do onces everthing is install (wiring , battery , starters etc : ) will the computer set its sell or do I need to do somthing first ? This is my first engine swap with computers . I used to own 69 Nova when I was younger and would swap engines every other weakend . It was a piece of cake . Not like doing this van . I took pics of eveything vidio tape most of all my moves . I could sell it as book with all the pics.
One more thing the van has power windows and left it dowwn . I would like to put it up but can't get power . Not even sure I should try scared somthing will screw up computer.

Any answeres would help Thanks

uhmmmmm

they're the same engine. Brackets might be different, but that's it.

so you're taking the engine out of a van and putting it in a blazer and they are both tbi???

I dont see the issue?

That's because there isn't one. Some of the brackets are different... I can't remember if the serpentine brackets are different... but at any rate, these are all very minor issues, easily worked around and obvious in their solution.

to get the windows up, connect all the wires that used to be attached to the large terminal on the starter to a battery and ground the negative of the battery to the van. Then roll em up like normal. Keep in mind that you probably have open fuel lines that will probably squirt a little fuel for a few seconds after you turn the key on.

What kind of Blazer (is it the little s-10 sized Blazer?) What engine was originally in the Blazer? If the answer to that question is anything other than "350", then no, you can't just drop it in, hook up the sensors and expect the computer to reprogram itself. You'll probably need the ECM from the van as well. Oh, and just because all the Blazer has all the plugs for all the same sensors, that doesn't means that the pin outs at the ECM connectors are the same. You need to do a bit more research on what each vehicle has in it now and a fair amount of research on TBI systems to understand exactly what you've got going on with your swap.

If you don't want to spend the time learning and understanding TBI systems, the "easy" way out it to just pull the engine, computer and computer wiring harness from the van and put the whole damn thing in the Blazer.

Thanks for all the info

It was a little mix up . I was swaping a 350 from full size blazer to the G20 van. I wasn't sure of all the swaps so i swapt everything , all sensors, exhast manafolds, tbi , motor mounts , the old engine is pretty bare . We plan on installing tomorrow. I will let you how it all works.

I never got around to putting window up yet but probaly won't matter now . Was going to try the install outside but it is about -20 degrees celicius. A little to cold for out side work
My garage is heated but not a lot of room when moving around cherry picker
Thanks
