05 Chevy Equinox probs...
OK, OK.. So I do not have a red star and I know that there has to be a thread or six about this so sorry but I can't search.
The wife has an 05 chevy equinox and the rear end sounds like trash. Buddy's wife had the same thing, told her it was "parking lot syndrom" and told her that they replaced the whole rear axle, under warranty I think. I Get some noise when making tight turns in a parking lot, but it is really loud if one of the rear wheels starts to slip. We just got a good amount of snow here the other day and it sounded really bad when I needed the AWD. Does this have some type of limited slip in the rear diff? Or is it some type of locker that is not disengaging? I found something online that was saying that the problem was in something I have never heard of and it looked similar to a transfer case. Any help or direction is appreciated on this. g.schucks |

ive seen quite a few of those.its the rear axle
i think it starts out as a lube issue, that quickly turns into a bearing issue, not long after that......when the bearing fails...the housing splits into about 3 pieces and you go nowhere!!!!!!!!!! weve fixed some low mile units with synth fluid and ltd slip additive.....only a few...........prob 80% or better are bad bearings leading to the case failure. how many miles you got on it?under 100k should be able to get help from gm. been loyal to any chevy dealer??this may be a big decision factor. did you buy it new?gm normally only helps orig. owners w/that stuff. im in indiana, dont know how much more i could help... ...well,my .02 |
