Im looking for a 4 speed with a granny low that wil bolt between a 350 and a np205.. but I dont know what to look for. The junk yard will sell me one for $85 but I want to make sure its the right one... Any info would be greatly appreciated.

theres only 2 options. a sm420 or a sm465. the 465 is the later model (used from late 60's to early 90's). its what i would get, if i was you.

I got ahold of a sm465 from a local tansmission shop today so it should be goin in soon!!

Make that one option - SM465.

The SM420 was never married to a 205.

465/205 combos are all over - GM made a ton of them from 1969 until 1980, and a few after that.

Make sure that the one you get or got has the right shaft spline count to mate to the 205 you got.
