2002 Envoy - Fuel Evap Code?
I know it's not really offroad related, but I'm trying to figure out whats wrong with a buddy's truck. It's a 2002 Envoy with the inline 6. He's getting the check engine light with a fuel evaporation code. His only issue is that after he gets gas, the first start is rough. It doesn't do this again until he gets gas again. I tried some searches everywhere, and couldn't come up with any TSB's or any other info. Where should I start? Evaporation canister? Checking the lines?
Any help is appreciated. |

I don't think he wrote down the code, so I think I'll see if he can get it tested again. Hmm....pressurize and add smoke....prob can't do that without the special tool. I guess I can do a visual inspection and then take it in if I can't find anything?

Just to update this incase anybody searches on this, I'm about 99% positive it's the EVAP Purge Valve. I found a gm bulliten that says extended or long starts after filling up with gas normally means the evap purge valve is not closing to allow the vacum the engine needs to start. It's a $30 part, but there are several variations, so be sure which one it when buying. The one we had last night was one number off, and wouldn't work. The old valve is passing air right thru, and the new one is not, so I would say it is stuck open.
