Well everything i read about making a square d shaft says you just need to grind o the 2 inch tubing for the seam and it should slide right in. That reciever tubing is pretty damn expensive. I have some tubing that doesnt have that flash in it. I was going to use that for the rear but i am trying to find a rear one ton driveshaft and use that instead.
Eitherway the front shaft slides in and out good now, just took a lot more time that i thought it would. No big deal. I finally moved it under its own power the otherday. Felt good to drive it around. Just need to finish the doubler mount and rear shaft and its hammer time. |

havent done much to the cage since the last post. besides adding a few support bars in the rear, it is basically done. I need to wait until wade gets his bender back next weekend so we can finish the doubler mount and then i will have some action shots.

thanks guys. I built the rear shock hoop/ bar today. Just need to make some tabs and those will go in. I am going to wait until i am done with everything in the rear before i do anykind of bed. I havent thought so much about it yet. I only have a couple more weeks to work on it. In the fall and summer i live over in Austria with my girlfriend, so it kinda sucks i have no time to work on the rig in the winter. But when i get back in april it will be jst about ready to go. I will just need to d o my hydro steering, beadlocks and rear driveshaft. So i should be able to do that all with in a weekend or two and then just hammer the snot out of it.

so since i am in europe for the whole winter i have a lot of time to think about what i cant do to my rig at the moment. One thing I need to do when i get back in the spring is finish the rear of the cage. I drew a few lines on a pic to see what the back would look like, but i woul dlike your opinions on what would look good but be functional. I think i like how i drew the rear of the cage but i am not sure how to do the sides. So let me know what you think and maybe make your own edits.
Thanks Paul

Not too much to update, but i did get some goodies. I had KORE cut me some beadlocks. And I also got a 1410 rear output yoke for my 205 from Jesse at HAD.

its just you
Before i made the rear doubler mount i had the stock 208 x member in there to hold it up, and it was rubbing on that a little. I still need to make a new front x member for the doubler and add a skid plate for the t case.

thanks man. My boss and the guys at work always gave me shit cause they said my truck would never move. So i told them one friday that when they come into work on monday my back tire will be on top of that POS ford. Well I made sure to open the alignment bay door, so when they came in that was what they saw. Wade and I got the truck moving the night before around 10pm and i told him he cant leave till that thing was up there.
My boss's daughter asked me if i was going to be in trouble for driving on a customers car haha.

a little update for ya. got my doubler back from sumner machine. they reclocked it for me. now i have the 203 upside down and the 205 flat. the case sits above the frame rails now and the x member hangs just below it. so it came out pretty good. I also built my rear shock mounts and started on the beadlocks from KORE.
I had to get new headers cause they hit my d shaft with the 205 clocked up so high. so i have some headman shorties on the way. I also need to fix my front pinion angle now, it just plain ole sucks. Thanks to wade today for giving me a hand with the beadlocks and being my bolt bitch ![]() here are some pics.

some more pics. also have a question about bolting up the beadlocks. i always heard you want to torque them down to about 25 ft/lbs. i did one that way ( took about 45 minutes) cause everytime you think your done another bolt loosens up. the other thing i noticed, was that the outer ring started to bend in at the center of the ring. Is this normal or have i tightened them too much?
oh yeah i didnt realize it until the end, but i put both outer rings on upside down so KORE reads KO(upside down R)E. we also welded a 3/16 round stock rod around the inner bead to make a better bead.

how did you go about tightening down the bolts? how tight did you get them and did the outer ring bow in once they were tight?
