Rear Chevy Axle??? How do you tell?

I have what I was told is a Dana 70 rear axle. I am unsure tho if it is or what it is out of. The only info I can find on the axle is the tag on the rear diff cover. It reads:

52068173
8 54 605509

how can I tell off that what the axle is out of? I have this posted in the newbie section too but am trying to find an answer today and nobody has responded yet so I thought i'd try here. Thanks.

thanks. I checked the dana site and they said it is a 70 out of a 91-93.5 dodge. Is that an okay rear? Is it possible to find exact matching gears from a early 80's chevy 60 front?
If anyones got some I need em ha. I'd be interested in 4.10's for the rear or a matching set of 4.88's.

I don't think you will find a set of dana 60 and dana 70 gears together in a pair. Try ringpinion.com .

Sorry, I figured I couldn't buy them in a set. I meant do they both make the same gear ratios. I know some are a little bit different than others. I was curious if Dodge and Chevy both made 4.88s etc for their axles so I could get the same ratios front and rear or if I am just going to have to get as close as possible. Thanks.

dana/spicer makes the axles not chevy and dodge. so yes, there are matching gear ratios for both axles regardless of what they came out of.

very cool, thanks a lot for all the feedback. I was checking out the dana site yesterday and saw that you could order gears for both. Thanks again.
