4x4 conversion '94 c1500
I have a '94 2wd manual, been looking at lift kits but they are so expensive im wondering if id be better off paying twice the money and swapping to 4x4 at the same time.
I could save a bunch by doing the sas but i really like my tranny, this truck is so mint. Is it possible to keep my tanny and swap the end to bolt the 4x4 transfer case from a 94 4x4 ? I dont really use 4x4 because well i dont have it, i just dont go to places i cant because im 2wd open diff ![]() Going with sas and keeping the tranny would pretty much be the same price in parts over here, and could get 3inches of lift. And solid front looks awesome ![]() so option 1: 6 inch lift 2wd option 2: 3 inches 4x4 sas if tranny fit the truck is really worth any money put into it, it could almost pass as a new but id like to add money as i go. I have until spring to decide because ill need summer tire then, and size will depend on lift. Photos are welcomed Last edited by hello; 01-03-2009 at 08:18 PM. |

Since you asked for pics:
Heres 8" 2wd... Most people on here will never see the point of this truck, and there really isnt a point,I have other trucks for actual wheeling....Anyhow its a cheap beater and thats about it. It does OK on trails and mud and such, but its nothing serious just something fun ![]() ![]() Id do what the other guys are saying with the divorced case, best idea if you want to keep that trans. 3" will be VERY tough to do,especially on a 2wd since you have that big engine crossmember hangin down there but of corse everything is possible. Some people say 4x4 and 2wd SAS brackets are different due to the frame,Im not sure because I made my own with my 2wd truck in front of me for measuring. I think you should make your own also if you want to keep it low as possible, but regardless you should plan to end up with at least 5".....2" front springs for 73-87 and 3" brackets, then trim that crossmember and plate it. My SAS truck is a 90 2wd 1500 with home made brackets,52" stock rears from my 85 2wd with overload removed but somewhat too tall. Its buried in about 4 ft of snow right now but come spring I think Im going to pull off the cab, move it back a couple inches and either channel it or body drop it 2.5-3" |
