Like diesel says, it's 650 lbs. for the engine alone. Not sure about the TH400. I could see the 258 weighing that much too. Straight sixes are usually heavier than you might think.
Cooling will be the biggest challenge. <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0">

Postal and Rat540Cj what kind of radiators do you run in your rigs?I am putting a 454/465/205 combo in a CJ5 and am concerned with cooling,since it will see mostly slow trail duty.Thanks for any info.Blazin <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Oh yeah MT if your concerned about weight you could throw a pair of aluminun heads and intake on the bad boy and save alot of weight atleast 50 to 100 lbs.This gets it down to around SB chevy weight.Blazin <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Yep...650 lbs! Slightly less if you use an alum intake and heads.

It sucks because I built the engine to chug along at 300 RPM, and it does it well, but it doesn't get enough air/coolant flow at that speed. Over the winter, I will swap to an injected 350.
