Simple question but I can't seem to find the answer to it anywhere. Does teh np-208 used in mid to late eighties chev blazers have a fixed or slip yoke? What about the np-241?

All GM 208s and 241s have slip yokes.

The np-208's are from around 83-87....np-241's began to come out in 88...

Just a thought? Is it possible to convert the Chev np-208 to a fixed yoke using parts from a Jeep np-208 used on FSJ's in the early eighties which has a fixed yoke? I did a search but turned up nothing. I'm looking for a bolt up factory solution for a good crawl ratio using the 350 TBI to SM 465. I know that the np-205 will work but it only has a 1.98:1 ratio where the np-208 has a 2.62:1 ratio.
Any information would be helpfull. Thanks!

the 241 came with a fixed yoke in dodge p/u's. 208's never came with a fixed yoke in a fullsize rig. if you want to use an aluminum case t-case for a wheeler i would highly recommend the 241 vs the 208. chain is twice as strong and so is the planetary. you can find 241's in both side drops. very late 80's K-5's had the passenger side drop.
i'm trying to make a hybrid chevy right side drop with the dodge bolt on rear section.
the other nice features of a 241 are that a 4:1 gear set is available and a modified shift linkage; 2 low!

orangefj45wagon you need to do a little more research. The NP 208 did come factory with a fixed yoke in both 1/2 and 3/4 ton Dodges from 80 untill at least 86. If you dont believe me open up a service manual and have a look or come by my place I have two of them in my stash.
As far as whether they would bolt to the back of a chevy 208 I am not sure but I would think they would since they are all made by NP.

easy there! nobody is calling you a liar!
to make a 208 work behind a gm trans you'd have to use the case halves from a chevy 208 case and the rear extension housing, output shaft and bolt on yoke from a dodge 208. should work out pretty well, and 208's are pretty cheap. good luck.

i don't think the dodge 208 will bolt up although i do not have one. the 241-c(chevy) will bolt up where a 208-c(chevy) normally bolts up. but on a dodge the bolt pattern is just a hair different on 2 of the 6 bolts if i remember right. this is what i've found on a 241 so i assume it to be true on a 208.

thinking back, i have actually worked on an early 80's dodge 1/2 ton 4X4 that had a bolt on yoke 208 in it. you're right!
