Post D44 front identification??

I posted this in General 4x4, but it isn't getting any action over there, so I thought you guys would have an idea on this:

I picked up a D44 front from a '73 suburban last week, and I was cleaning it up over the weekend, and spied the model # markings: 44-8F does anyone know what this signifies? I know that the 44-50F is a thick-wall axle tube marking, but I have not heard of the 44-8F??

Thanks! <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

The 44-5F (not 50F) was the designation for a half ton thick wall housing. The 8F was the designation for a 3/4 ton thick wall housing in certain years (they couldn't make up their mind wether they wanted it to be thick or not). You'll just have to see if it is thick. Chances are that it is.

Thanks Neckster. I'll check it out once I have it all torn apart.
