i just bought my first 4 wheel drive vehicle. It is a 1981 Blazer. it is 100% stock and i want to put a lift kit on it. i have heard that too much of a lift will screw everything up. i want to go either 6" or 4" lift. i am not sure which one i should put on. also... i am wondering what the largest size tire that i can put on it is. thanx. <IMG SRC="smilies/grinpimp.gif" border="0">

My blazer has 4in in the front and 6in the rear I'll always hated the sagging rear look on lifted blazers. Mine with the top on sits level. With the 4 in block in the rear I didn't have any major problems but the drive line could use being extended. After I put the 6in spring in the back their was no question the drive line needed to be extended it. Now that I know a lot more about blazers I wouldn't have wasted money on a rear spring I would have done a 4in shakle flip in the rear and added a leaf. You can put as big as tires as ya want if you lift it and/or use a sawzall!! Do yourself a favor and check out ORD (Off Road Design) for some parts. The owner has a Jimmy and he was the 2nd place winner in the TTC. He knows his stuff and will steer you right in whatever you want to do... <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> What exactly do you have planned for it and what would you like to begin with...? You gotta figure that out first then go from there...

Do a lot of research first before you start buying parts you'll end up replacing later. ColoradoK5.com will give you all the answers. You made a good choice in getting a K5 because they're easy to work on and parts are everywhere. Just remember the bigger you go the more you'll expect to spend on steering correction, new driveshafts and other junk needed to keep a lifted truck road worthy. Hope this helps.
