I'm installing a used/rebuilt 700r4 in my Jeep and I needed to remove the u-shaped shifter bracked from the tranny, so that can install the B&M plate. With very little force I managed to snap the stud holding on the bracket. The bracket has a square that locks on the tranny, the stud & nut just keep it in place.
Can I drill a hole and use a short self taping bolt? How deep can I drill w/o screwing up the tranny? Thanks Mark F

Like you said it just holds it on to keep from falling off. Should be ok. I think the linkage is easily replaced however. Need to remove the pan and take a look. I believe there is an s link inside that will allow it
to be removed. Jason
