Post Camming and buildup

Im looking to build up a Chevy 292 for a Cruiser and im getting mixed messages on another board regarding camming choices. One says 270 duration, the other 240. Im looking for economy and reliability versus power. Should i just stay with a stock cam and look to optimize the intake headers exhaust side first? or is there a particular area of the 292 that unlocks hidden potential in this block?

If you really want to do it right you should call Elgin Cams. www.elgincams.com This guy can set you up with the right profile. They are more expensive on something but when he does caddy cams for me the are the same price as the over cam companies. I would look to Elgin before any other cam make.

Part of the discrepancy comes from the fact that you are talking advertised duration.
Look more at duration @ .050"
This gives you a "starting point" and makes it a lot easier to compare cams from different manufacturers.

Also put in a call to Clifford Research, 6=8 is their motto.
