is there a fluid seal between the two? or are they connected.

there is a seal in the front of the t-case so no they are not connected but the seals in those always get hard and leak through if thats what youre looking for. if youre low on trans fluid and you cant see a leak then check the t-case fluid and if a lot of atf pours out then the seal is bad and it is leaking through.
