Question Bench seat to bucket's ????

I have a 85 Suburban with a bench seat. The seat is getting pretty wasted and instead of having it recovered/repaired I'd like to get the buckets with the console or what I'd REALLY like would be the seats out of a newer style truck with the 40% 20% 40% seats or what ever there called?

so my questions......

Are the mounts the same for all the above seats??

Whats a good price to pay for those seats??

Anything else should I consider??

Thanks

You need to roll-your-own seat brackets. The Burb/crewcab is based on the pickup body tub, so the floor in bulged up under front seats to accomodate the saddle tanks. Blazer/Jimmy has its own floor - its flat. The newer trucks have flat floors too.

Even if you find factory buckets, a bench truck is missing one of the floor brackets. To top it off regular cab and Burb/crewcab have different tracks too.

I got my buckets from an 87 regular cab. Only one of the four corners on each seat would reach the floor so I could bolt it down. The other three I had to fab up. If I'd known it was that much work, I'd have waited to get better seats

The easiest is to just look for buckets from a 91-older Burb. At least then you only need to build one mount.

I fabbed up the mounting for putting an 89 60/40 seat in my 72 Chev pickup. Just went to the junkyard and compared measurements beforehand.

I wouldn't think it could be that hard. Just go measure and check it out.

72 is easy to do since the floor is flat. The floor is nowhere near flat on 73-87 pickups and Burbs. Not impossible by any means, but definitely more work.

If you get the 60/40 seats out of a newer truck in the nineties they come on those stands that raise them off of the floor since they are flat..
All you have to do is cut them down and make them as high or low as you want..
Just measure how high the old seat is before you take it out and that will tell you how to set up the new one.
I've done a bunch of these and it's an easy swap..
I just don't recomend the new seats with the sculped looking pleat design in them.. These seat covers are glued to the foam and if you wear it out it can get expensive to recover them...

Good Luck..
