4.3 TBI to 5.7 TBI swap ????'s - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

Just wanted to see if what I was getting over at S-10 4x4.com was crap or not. They told me that I could swap in a TBI 350, and that the harnesses for the 4.3 and the 350 are the same and that all i would have to change would be the chip in the ECU, and change the injectors and some sensors. Is this true? Oh yeah and motor mounts too, but Im not to worried about that. So is this right? or is there anything else i need to know?

Change the chip, tbi,motor mounts and you should be able to throw it together pretty quick.The tbi on a 4.3 isnt big enough to work right on a 350...Either that or I had one off of a 2.3...The wiring is the same except for minor year changes..

the tbi unit should be ok w/350 inj.'s dont forget to change the knock sensor or at least verify part numbers as i could be wrong.

I would check the computer. Most I have looked at inthe junkyard have a different computer than the fullsize and astro 4.3. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try though, I have got on flattie running out of my shop with the 4.3 astro comp and harness with v-8 chip.

computers are the same gm saved some coin doing this just the chips are different for the tbi motors at least for the 5.7, 5.0, and 4.3

Keep in mind that there are only 30 of us so far. Mostly everyone the left or got kicked off after the Jam last May. Nothin big, but the info you are after is there.

the bbs looks real cool, however I think that its pretty <IMG SRC="smilies/rainbow.gif" border="0"> that you have to get approved for admittance. But... if thats the thing over there then cool. If I get in or whatever I have no problem. I see it as more or less a way to keep all of the JU like <IMG SRC="smilies/crybaby2.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/clown.gif" border="0"> 's out from the big dogs.
