Question Specs on 69-72 Blazers

I am looking for these years blazers. What type of axles and gears did they come with? Can lifts from 73-87 fit this year? If not, what is the difference. I drove a 71 suburban 4x4 that was my rents when I was younger, but now have a 4runner and want to go back to the fullsize V8 trucks. Gotta admit I love that style. Any help would be appreciated.
I want to run 35s, so what size lift, axle mods, gears, lockers? Any other stuff? It will be a daily driver, some freeway driving, mostly around town driving. I am in college, so I need something that is not going to be a money pit once I get into (except for mods, which I know will be addictive). Thanks.

Stock they came with D44 front, 12bolt rear. Stock they will clear 33's. 4 inch will clear 35's for the street no problem. Might need some trimming if you run hard trails. Most have 350 engine. Some of the early ones 69-70 they got a Dana 20 case. Really I would look for 71-72. Almost all of those had NP205 behind all the trannys except the saginaw 3 speed and you don't want that.
Most got the base gear of 3.08. If the build sticker is still on the glove box door it will list if it has the optional 3.73 or 4.10 axles. The spring lengths are different for 69-72 than the 73 up. The softest springs and the least expensive are the EZrides by Tuff country. Shackle flip in the rear and you 900's on the ramp easy. www.offroaddesign.com is K5 specialist. Stephen Watson is the man! His company has come up with some of the best stuff for these trucks. If the name is familure it's because he's the guy that came in 2nd at the Tough truck this year. He can hook you up.

Like Grim said, go for a 71 or 72. They came with front disks. Most of the companies that make lifts for 73-87s make them for the 1st gen K5s. Look for rust, especially the rocker panels and the boxes behind them. The boxes are what holds the center of the truck up since they dont have roofs. Since you in AZ that doesnt sound like much of a problem. If your going to wheel 35s, get a 1 ton 14 bolt for the rear. The springs will bolt up but you will need to move the shock tabs and get a hybrid u-joint. If your not going to wheel, then stick with the 12 bolt and get the right gears and some alloy shafts.
