I thought maybe some of you Chev guys could help me out here. I'm looking for an open knuckle D44 front to put under my 86 4runner. Anyone here know off hand where I might find one near the midwest? If I were in Cali, I could have an entire garage full by now, but here in the rust belt, they are not as common! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have about 6 front 44 axles right now and I get them from the "Trading post/newspaper/junkyard". Heres a hint 76 and under have the famous "flat top" knuckles that you use for X-over. good luck

check out your local paper and whatever classifieds are around. D44's were in most trucks b4 81. but a parts truck and get whatn you need then sell the rest. Never know what you'll need.

The front 10-bolts started to be used pretty heavily by the late-70's, you your best bet would be a mid-70's truck. The Chevy Dana 44's are getting harder to find in the junkyards because they haven't been used for such a long time.
