Well the 4L60E is 16 bolt pan and the 4L80E is a 17 bolt pan if that helps. The 4L60 pan is more rectangular than the square 4L80.
4L80E ![]() 4L60E ![]() Search brought the good info.. ![]() http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/archi...p/t-63584.html

A K1500 will probably have the 4L60E in it with a NP 241 drivers drop t-case. Look on the back of the old t-case, it has a round metal tag screwed into it that has the model number and low range ratio stamped on the tag.
Should have NP-241 and 2.72-1 stamped on the tag. |

thanks a bunch guys. if we were to swap out cases, would it matter which one we got? does either one have a lower 4lo or anything?
i don't know which one he has yet, but i guess what i'm asking is can they be interchanged, and is one better than the other? edit- nevermind, i found the info. looks like we are going to want to do a direct swap. thanks again! Last edited by roastbeef; 05-25-2009 at 03:47 PM. |

Just keep in mind you don't want to run a 4L60 computer on a 4L80 transmission so keep that in mind if you swap them.
