budget for a 383?

im picking up an eagle 383 kit off a friend, has steel crank, i-beam rods, forged pistons, rings, piston pins, the only thing i will need is the bearings.

$400 for that kit
~$100 for bearings
$200 bore/hone
~$100 gaskets/seals
possibly some head/valve work that i will do myself, but ~$75 parts

i consider this a pretty good deal and will probly be doing is this winter
any other costs i am forgetting? and any other thoughts on it are appriciated

Double your budget to account for all the little things that you haven't considered that will pop up during the build.

what about fluids? Plugs/wires/ignition parts? I assume you already have an intake & carb? Headers?

i think you only have to do that using a 400 crank, not using an actual crank for the 383 kit

You still have to clearance the block with the kit. At least I did on the ones I built.
