chevy 6.0 temperature range

What is a good temperature range for the 6.0 to run at? I think mine is running hot. At idle it is running 210-220 range. Is this to high?

seems a touch high, but keep in mind your gauge may be off as well. If you have access to a heat gun try that and look for any discrepancy between it and your gauge. You could throw a slightly lower thermostat in it and even add an auxiallary pusher fan.

that said, most automatics i see tend to run around 200-210 while standards run from 190ish-200/210. 220 isnt bad but its a little higher then i would like to see on my personal vehicle. I'd maybe do a coolant flush and while i was at it throw a slightly lower tstat in and go from there.

That's normal they run that high for emmisons. You can get a lower stat but the temp. your seeing is OK 220 is getting hot though.
