Waterpump Pimp

I've got a Weiand polished aluminum short Chevy waterpump that just went bad. I started looking around, and I could have bought a chinese made one, but I started searching. Originally I paid pretty big bucks for it and then sent it out to be polished. Last Saturday I took it off and mailed it to A & T parts Rebuilders, Tupelo, MS in a USPS Priority flat rate box. Monday at about 10:00 I get this call telling me it's done and how would I like to pay for it. I was blown away at the speed, and today, Friday it's back at my house.
The tech here is that we can get our American made parts rebuilt by American's that will stand behind the product. How many of you have put on 2 or 3 chinese made whatever?

I have a chinese water pump I have had for years from vatozone. I don't need bling and that aint tech since you didn't do it

EDIT: Ever heard that crome dont get you home? Goes the same for polished parts that serve no purpose

So by polished you mean the inside so it flows better right?

I bought this in 1997, so are you sure? The older I get the more I appreciate spending my money in America. If that's the case at least I had it rebuilt in America.

Likely still US made. The China stuff is more recent.

i agree chrome is tacky and usually covers up the words made in china but i will never turn down polished alluminum. it looks good and super easy to clean, try that with vatozones rough as finish. my self i just bought a new bbc pump from oreilys with lifetime and as i recall it was under 100 bucks well worth it.

you wont buy many electrical items made in America.... i doubt that the aluminum foundry where the water pump was cast is in America, as there arent that many out there.

most gm blocks are cast in Mexico....

It is good to hear that someone stands behind their shit, though.

Most would use a search engine to find their website, but I understand that living in Galt the fumes from the cattle dung may affect your senses.

But really, their niche is for providing service to those who have a 1932 Packard, or old Ford tractor.

I got a brand new water pump for a 1998 dodge 318 at autobone(without a doubt chinese) and it leaked through the casting. I also got a wheel bearing for the same truck, the autobone brand was $140 with a lifetime warrantee and the Timken which is made in America was $80 with no warrantee. The guy at the counter was convinced he was selling me the autobone bearing, I walked out with the Timken.

so you are dogging the chinese water pump by comparing it to a indan made bearing?

nope, just the gook made water pump leaked through the casting. I could see if it was a seal leaking but casting? come on GREAT quality there. Even if the Timken bearing was more I woulda bought it anyways, lifetime warrantee kinda tells me they know its gonna fail. I say buy american or get the fuck out.

From what Beat95YJ said yours was made in America. The corporate exec's in America can send our jobs oversea's. The least we can do is to try and keep our money in America. Glad to hear yours has worked well for you.

seeing how I worked for Timken for a number of years and turned hundreds of thousands if not millions of rollers for tapered roller bearings along with the inners and outers I'm confident when I say their made in America, along with the etching on them that clearly says USA. They do made bearings in other countries but that is mostly for their own domestic market. Next time your kicked back in the dentists chair rest assured, I most likely made the bearings in the dental drill.

the seals most likely not US made, could be but doubtful. I havent worked there in just over a year so things could have changed but Timken is set in their ways. Even if they were made in inda theres a reason why most OEM's still use Timken bearings and seals. They make a lot of stuff for the government so they will always be making some things here.
