2001 silverado delphi steering box, Anybody taped one???

Like the title says I have a 2001 silverado I want to tap the box and I cannot find any tech on that specific box and where to drill.

If anyone has any tech on what to do should I change boxes or where to tap it please let me know.

Do you have a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

If the latter of the two simply just have an aluminum slug welded on the steering box cap in the front and tapped. Then tap the top cap.

Thats how I did mine... this is all assuming you have a 3/4 ton.

If not, you can call benchworks in Scottsdale arizona to have the box done, or have him send you one.

Look at a flow diagram of the box. It's very simple. I have tapped boxes on both my rigs. On my 05 silverado I drilled the housing and TIGed in the fittings. They are both on the inside of the box, one slightly higher than the other. I can get pics for you when I get back from new York later in the week. On my k5, I drilled an tapped the top plate of the box and got a new endcap for $40. Just look for a flow diagram and start drilling pussy

EMS offroad offers the end cap, and will drill your top cap if you send it to them for free. im not sure if its the same with newer style trucks, but thats how it works for square style chevys

Better a pussy than a Faggot

Hey yeah I am ready to drill as soon as i figure out where!!!!

Ok so it is the 1/2 ton and there is no cap or anything of that nature.
I wish there was!!!

Supersize do you know if the 2500 box is better beefier cause if it is I could sway it out!

Bigred those pics would be great and maybe a line on where to find the flow chart. Once I get those I will drill it and be a Great American!

Thanks for the help!

The 2500 box goe inside the frame rail and appears to be larger than the k-series most of us have dealt with. But with out specs.. its all assumptions. I can say that while the 2500 box should be stronger I have already managed to break mine twice.. I do beat this thing pretty hard though.

Your nutz! I need to explore this fire business stuff cause you seem to be making so much money you that you break stuff on purpose!

If anybody knows the differances pros cons of the 1500 vs 2500 box I would greatly appriciate it.

Josh, as soon as I get home Saturday I will take some pics for you. As for the difference Between the 1500 and 2500 boxes, I am not
sure. I have of my stock 05 1500 boxes for sale. A guy with a 2500 needed one, we
could not tell any visible differences between our two boxes. But he
would not buy it because they were different part numbers. As for the flow diagram of the box, I have a picture on my computer of it. But being in fawkin new York for the week I have to do what I can on pirate on this fawkin iPhone

One person I can think of who might be familiar possibly with both is trevor at WFO Concepts in california. Don't quote me but I want to recall him doing a 1500 build at some point.

If not the bench works guy, or the fine folks at west texas off road may be able to help with the box or at least some questions.

All three companies have kick ass service.

As for my truck, its only got 32k on it.. so plenty of driveway miles on her of down time too
