700r4 & th350 first gear swap - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

Can you swap the first gear (or first through third gear) out of a 700r4 and put it/them into a th350 so you can have the 3.06 first gear instead of the 2.52 first gear in the th350? I only thought of this because I thought I saw someone mentioned they had a special 700r4 first gear in their th350 somewhere on this site, but can't find it now. I already have a th350, so please don't tell me to just go get a 700r4 instead, I don't wanna buy one and the new adapter for it to my dana 300. So, if anyone has any idea, or has any links to further info from anywhere, It'd be awsome. Thanks.

not that i know of, simply because the low/rev clutchpack rides on the rear planetary gear and the planet in a 700 is different than one in a 350. the 350 just rides on the output shaft with a bushing while the 700 has the hub of the input ring gear splined into it

unless someone out there makes a custom one, or you can switch the actual gears from one to the other and the rear ring gear i dont see how you would be able to swap it. nevertheless i am curious so i will be watching to see what people say (if there is something out there)
