Transmission vendors

Yesterday my 700R4 started making grinding noise and wont reverse properly
Still building my engine, and had hoped the old setup (305/700) would cut it for another month >.<
So now I gotta get the transmission ordered aswell, as this is sorta our daily driver...
I need to get a upgraded trans for hauling / high torque.
(I realize 400's are the shit, but I really do need that overdrive for highway)
This being a 2wd, I wont be rock crawling with it anyway

Been looking at TCI (http://tciauto.com/), Bowler (http://bowlertransmissions.com/) and Monster transmission (http://www.monstertransmission.com/).

Anyone got love/hate stories with these or other transmission vendors?

Im ordering from Norway and will have to get it shipped, would suck to unpack it in Norway three weeks later and find something is fubar.

I got a level II 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives (www.bowtieoverdrives.com) and have been extremely pleased. I've got a 383 in front of it that puts out 403HP and 479ft lbs at the crank. Mine is 4WD, but I don't do any rock crawling and I daily drive it, so I needed overdrive as well. My plan was originally to install the engine and hope the original tranny lasted for a while, but we accidentally tore the TV cable out of it when we pulled the old engine, so I decided to bite the bullet and get a new tranny then. I've had the tranny in for two years now and have had zero issues with it. I tow ~4,500lbs with it a couple times a year and it performs well. Customer service with these guys was top notch, and they walk you through the initial setup to ensure that it is done properly (must be done to be eligible for the waranty).

I bought one from Monster Transmission two and a half weeks ago. They charged my card right when I ordered it, said I would have it in two weeks, don't have great customer service, and every time I call to check on it they just try to sell me more shit.

The transmission better be good.

lol
I ordered the Mega SS TH400 and asked about the delivery date the salesman said it would be 14 days. Which put me right on the mark for an event I want to make it to. The salesman said it wouldn't take but a couple days to get it to me after it was built. I checked on it today the person emailed me back and said if it shipped today (and its not) I wouldn't have it till next week. The 14th day would be Friday the 25th. Its my fault for not ordering it sooner but when you order remember the salesman is trying hard to sell you a transmission.

Like you I sure hope this transmission is a good one.

Well I got mine today from Monster Trans. It seems that it made shipping fine. They do crate them up really well. The first thing I did notice is a cork gasket on the pan. Is that normal? Seems cheap, but I'll admit I don't know the most about transmissions, maybe there is a reason..?..

Anyway. I should have it driving by next weekend with a little luck. I still think they better make a super duper tranny cause everything else about them was mediocre so far.

Thanks for sharing experiences...
Im waiting for a quote from bowtie... they seem to be the most professional about the overdrive trannys when pricing is taken into account... Think Ill order from them tonight, if they give me a good package price...

Ofc I had to miss the complete package campaign by like a week

Right - still no quote from bowtie...
Considering monstertrans just for the price atm...

What kind of stall ratio do you guys run on 450 HP daily drivers with 700's and regular tire size?

Give the guys at Performabuilt a buzz and see what they can do, I had a good experience with them for what it's worth.
