Dana 60 carrier question

Ok I posted this on the general tech forum and didnt get the answer I was looking for, so Ill stay on the chevy forum where all the smart gear heads are: I picked up a Dana 60 carrier at a garage sale for 10 bucks, figured it was worth it even if I cant use it. Guy said he thinks it came out of a 90's dodge truck. the number on it is 43678 5182. No gears on it but I was able to confirm via the Dana 60 bible that it is a series 4, which is what I wanted being Im going with 5.13's. Question is if this came out of the rear of a dodge, he's not sure of this, will it fit in my front 87 chevy Dana 60. I also mearsured it from the end to the gear face and got 2.360, confirming its a series 4. One of the posters stated I might want to check the bearing cup size that it could be different, Did they make different size carrier bearings for the Dana 60? Thanks

Should work. They used standard Dana 60's in the front and rear in the early '90's.

dana 60 carrier bearings are the same as dana 60 GM inner wheel bearings... what you need to check is the inside diameter of the bearing journal and ensure that you can pass a 1.50" diameter axleshaft through it. some of the carriers were smaller.

if it came from the rear it would be 30 spline or a d70 carrier.

Well it does have 35 splines and the journal holes are over 1.60. I guess I should measure the ring gear and make sure its not a dana 70. I guess my hopes was somebody somewhere could match up the casting numbers somewhere and just tell me for sure what it is.
