I wouldn't before spending some money on the bottom end. The LSJ is a great engine, but the general thought is that 275-300 is the upper limits for what you want to push the stock internals of any Ecotec. Sure, people will tell you you can get 500 hp out of a stock bottom end, but the straight poop is that GMPP produces their stage 3 kit that even allows you to run nitrous...and with that nitrous shot you will see shy of 300 horsepower. So...if I was building one what would I do? Honestly, I'd head right down to my GM dealership and start ordering their parts. It works and it has a warranty. The PCMs on the Ecotecs just aren't tuner friendly for the most part, especially outside of their original application.
So...spend the money at GM or gear it so it actually gets above 4000 RPM where it belongs and wheel the piss out of it.
