71 lwb k10
Well, I just picked up this K10 today, and have already ordered a slew of parts for it. Not turning it into some crazy ass rock crawler or anything of that matter, just making a slick DD out of it.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Truck runs ok, needs a little TLC, but i think it was worth it. Wiring is a little jittery (what c/K10 isnt?), brakes SUCK, body is overall straight.

truck has a SBC 350, 4 speed, NP205, stock axles, "supposedly" a lift, 35" BFG's, bed liner OVER a stock wood bed, blazer buckets, no console, no heat, no radio, no bumper.

I'm not in Frankfort man. Right now I am in San Diego. Truck came out of riverside. I will be back in KY in September, and yes, this and the Ranger will be coming with me. Oh yea, almost forgot. The bedliner is going in the dump, along with those diesel tanks TODAY.

Well, just figured i would give everyone an idea of what this truck will become. It will be taking my 68's sopt as the shop truck for mine and my dad's body shop. What is my 68 you ask?
![]() ![]() Since i am converting the black truck back to a 68 front clip, and doing a body off resto on it, This old blue one will become the new shop truck. Same paint scheme, same interior, everything. Now the reason for the engine shot is because this one will be following in the black truck's footsteps. An iron block L-Series engine along with manual trans will be going in so i can drive the truck, and get better than 10 MPH. Goal is to have it completed within 3 years.

Parts I just ordered last night include:
Clear sidemarkers Clear tail lights Billet grille insert RH window regulator LH window regulator New headlights Getting all the registration mess done today, then going to take it to the hobby shop and try and figure out why the brakes are so jacked up. Then a much needed tune up once the Ranger is back on all 4's

I was driving the truck that mine came out of, it was getting 17-22 mpg. That is why it is going in my 72, the 454 I had got between 6 & 8 mpg, less if you stuck your foot in it! |

I have driven them, like them a lot, and once i graduate from my master's program, i am buying a 08up crew cab short bed. I just haven't grown the sack to do a diesel conversion yet. Although, you never know. I have been known to change my mind.....

Looks like you know your way around the ol' Chevy's. I'm stumbling my way around my recently acquired '71 now.

well, drove Big Nasty into work today. suprisingly, this sucker is well behaved on the freeway. I try not to go over 70, because after that, she is NOT fun.
Last night the headlights stopped working, so went and trouble shooted the headlight wiring, and was suprised to see that everything looks GREAT! The problem was the floor switch, which just so happen to go out in little Nasty too. replaced it, and everything worked.

I'll be watching this one. I'd love to see an LS swap into a 67-72 4x4.
I need a 6BT in my truck too, but I think a 6.0 is more realistic.

got the old grill out, only two of the bolts were rusted together with the clips. Looks to be the grille shell has never been removed from the truck. Just sat the billet insert in to see what it looks like, and i must say.... Its hawt.
Also go the new headlights installed. Still waiting on the other parts for it, like window tracks, side lights, and tail lights. Going to sandblast the black eyes and paint them with the high luster aluminium prolly tonight, polish up the old shell, which is in fantastic shape. Very little dents, and no rust. The tech at the hobby shop is going to help with the timing and setting the carb to help with the shitty running, so after that, i'll get some pics.

I completely agree with you. I'm still not sure what i am going to do. I thought about taking everything i need to convert my 2wd to wood bed off this one, and just getting another long bed, since they are pretty much a dime a dozen.

try to find one in san diego. then just put it on top of your bed and ratchet strap it down, and bring it back. lol. seriously though, i dont know how stuff is in ky, but here in oh it's hard to find a good bed for a decent price without having something from the south or west shipped here. two birds with one stone.
