Off-season plans for 2012 TREC

Since the other thread (the rule changes thread) is starting to have a few people talk about plans for next year....what's everyone doing in the off-season? Sounds like there's going to be a lot of new B-class rigs next year.

I'm planning on being one of them, as long as everything pans out. The Cherokee's getting a 60 & (shaved) 14 bolt I've been holding on to for a while. 3 link front, staying with leaves in the rear right now for simplicity. I'm just getting sick of front axle problems & the terrible short-arm ride. Hopefully switching everything over will let me carry a bit more speed & not batter everything as bad. I just want long-arms, and as long as i'm doing it .... might as well upgrade everything.

Plus, hopefully it'll still be fun to wheel the next day...

I cant say when it will be done as that will depend on paychecks and bills, but ive started gathering for a B class YJ. Picked up a 95 rolling chassis. Pretty much complete minus drivetrain. Have a 14 bolt and a HP 44 drivers drop 8 lug front to go in it. Brother has a 93 k2500 to sell me as a donor for a tbi 350 drivetrain, but dont have the money just yet to get that. If the C714 ZJ doesnt sell, i may just hobble it back together and run it for fun until i can get the YJ done how i want it. We are both in better paying jobs, and now i have a truck and trailer of my own, so hopefully i will be able to start racing again in the 2012 season

new motor, new trans, new t-case, new rear axle, new front axle, new wheels, new front clip, new front bumper, air pumpers, intercom, bigger shcoks maybe, and a partridge in a pear tree. Gonna stay in c class just cause it is so much fun, but my whole jeep needs freshened up.

I am putting a new motor in my little rhino project and hope to have it out there running in the UTV class next year.

Good deal! More UTV's!

My plans for the #130 Stadium light buggy include squeaking out 8 or 9 more HP out of our Briggs V-Twin, clutch tuning to help it pull on the Polaris XP's, and some shock rebuilding/tuning on the dyno to absorb those big whoops.

What motor are you putting in rotax, apex,or r1? If your only gonna run 2 wheel drive some parts of the course might be a little difficult but you might be able to power through it.

oh yes Thomas is 6'2'' now, the new chassis will be longer, wider, taller, not by much just enough so we will not be building a new one every few years

I am doing a Rotax swap. Keeping the 4x4 and modifiing it to be able to do front and rear digs in a UTV!

I'm not sure what 2012 holds for me. After the last TREC race I had bursitis in both shoulders and a partially strained rotator cuff. 2 injections in the left shoulder and still too painful to sleep on that side. CANNOT pull a transfer case or transmission! I tried - wow! May not race at all or may need to build the truck more to save my body (2 years away from 60 and I feel things more than I used to). Like Jimmy Buffet says: "growing older but not up" - LOL.

just bump that brown ranger to the B class Tom. My ranger rides like a dream, granted I don't win but I do feel fine when I get out of the truck after a race. You did a season with stock suspension so now you owe it to yourself to have a big old marshmello ride.

The Wagoneer is for sale and we are moving to a B-class rig.

Anybody want to buy a race winning Wagoneer?! Only non-Cherokee to win a race in C-Class this year.

the wallet won out with me. ZJ didnt get much attention when for sale, and i wasnt willing to lower the price and take any more of a loss, so I decided to just keep it. Hoping to get it into the garage by next week to get started on it. Guess ill be C class, so i hope you dont all leave...i could use some money

an axle or two would be nice but as I mentioned previously, they are currently in the form of a 92% efficiency furnace in my basement... furnaces dont seem to roll well and I cant figure out the gear ratio either?? I kept telling C that it does not get that cold here... plus the bird man is tough, I could have just gotten him a thicker blanket.

Looking for some help with rules in B class for trec series.
Specifically:
wheel travel,
Bypass allowed or not (if so are triple bypass allowed)
is 2wd or 4wd a must
max and min tire size
filler hose for fuel cell allowed

Im from cali and just moved to KY in oct and looking to start racing with u guys in 2012

I have a jeepspeed based truck (emphasis on based because its just a base not quite finished.)

done some testing and so far all is good but need to know about these rules

2012 Rule for B class

TREC will be following the KOH MODIFIED CLASS rules for B class next year. Go to the ultra 4 web site and download the rule book. Class starts at section 6.4

Start building guys...

Which class in Jeepspeed? If you are 1700 class your rig will fit just fine into B class, This is what I started building my TJ for but got a little side tracked.

If you have any additional questions PM me and I can give you my number or email.

Larry

Nice - Ever run a jeepspeed event? I lived in Phoenix for 10 years and had a bunch of friends who raced score, BITD and whiplash - never got to see a JS event though. I would like to finish my TJ to JS 1700 specs and get out to Parker some day... maybe if I hit the lotto.

EVERYONE who is familar with racing out west TOTALLY under estimates the terrain at the park... you will be surprised. It is rough as hell and it will rip your rig apart fast if you push to hard.

There are some good TREC videos on youtube by indyrubi - check 'em out.
