John Currie- Flat tire too far from pit and no spare on board. Opted out at the bottom of Chocolate Thunder.
Casey Beach- Front drive line broke. Rear axle prep difficulties. Done at mile 20. Too bad, would have been a one fast car.

Yea you are all right... We had the outter heims tapped into the 1.5"x.250" tierods and it sheared right at the heim in the threads. I guess we made a stress riser by doing it that way. When it went it side loaded the race and bent it so I could not steer. We were able to fix the tie rod but not the rack. We will make some up with bungs and have them heat treated. We were a little worried about not having time to shake the car down but we will have it ready for the next race!

Nick told us over the radio that he couldn't prime the spare pump he installed, then after the race he said the pick up tube dissolved in the fuel cell.
Andrew with letzroll lost a tranny with 11 miles to go Bill I think broke a link then driveline coming down resolution or backdoor |

Literally completed one lap and my Trans decided it was done like turning off the lights. Shifted to high range and was planning to blow through main pit. Got on it and I had nuthin'. Tried everything we could but it's obvious something went way wrong again in my Trans. That was after blowing up a front shock at rm 6 and breaking an ignition coil on boulderdash... Had a spare one of those! But no Trans.
Got in the hardway and earned the last LCQ spot given with a 7:38 in qualifying. Had a great freakin time, the rock gods still aren't on my side yet. Aaron Beckstead and Mark Harris #1911

4460 In The Pink.
On lap two, we drove 5 miles with no throttle at all into pit 1, then from pit 1 to 2 with a Andy using a shoe string to control the throttle while I did the steering and braking. Baja Pits put in a hand throttle for us, but it didn't work well. More like an on/off switch, all or nothing. We worked our way down to the bottom of Spooner's Canyon, and decided to call it there.

Until we take it apart Monday morning, it was an undetermined internal part in the front diff. locker or pinion probably.

A destroyed rear diff took TJ Flores out in the sand below chocolate thunder. 4 failed diffs in a week is to much to handle.

Car 333 (black jeep YJ) lost an alternator at the top of sledge. They didn't have a radio and walked down Sledge to the bottom of Jack and I carted them back to get a new alternator and battery at around 9PM last night so they could carry them back up to the top of sledge. -John

We came in about 10:35 but still completed the entire course. It was the best experience ever. I'm thankful for Dave giving me a chance to run with the big dogs!
