Is the race length still 2 hours for A class?
About how much fuel are you guys running V8's burning thru in a race if you don't mind answering?

i think col"no E"ville was making it with his stock 6.0 just barely. i cant imagine with his motor upgrades he is going to make it now. i think he has a 22 gallon cell also i might be wrong though my hot rod motor i have in my xj will easily make it on 6 gallons haha Last edited by Hosejockey; 03-08-2012 at 01:31 PM. |

I was a little doubtful about making the first race, but I made a ton of headway today & actually took the Cherokee for its first test drive of sorts since the buildup. It looks like after tomorrow I should be almost ready to go
Right now i'm just trying to tie up all the loose ends & get everything race-ready. It'll be interesting seeing how it performs, I can already tell the suspension is pretty stiff - which I suppose is good and bad at the same time. We'll just have to see...

Front shocks are 2.5" FOA remote reservoir coilovers with 300 / 350 springs. Primary spring rate works out to about 160 pounds per inch , and of course the step-up rate is 350% then (just a little over 200%). Calcs out about right for high speed stuff, and should keep it from bottoming so easily like it used to.
Rears are bastardized leaf packs with 2" FOA remote reservoir coilovers (just running them as shocks now). The rear is exactly the same setup as last year, just 2" shocks instead of 2.5's. Well that, and I relocated the shackle mount away from the 100% retarded stock Cherokee design. I'm hoping its quite a bit stiffer than the 'old' setup - bumpstop encounters were frequent & violent

You know it....
Aside from some final prep (& painting....lots of painting!) the Cherokee is ready to go....pulled it out & put the lights back on today. It won't fit back in the garage with the lights on, so this is kind of a leap of faith. All I have left to do is final torquing on all the fasteners, loctite everything (& tack weld other nuts/bolts), and a few minor 'cleanup' items. Got a few things fixed with the camper today, roof shuts 100% now & its levelled to the trailer. I traded my 18' carhauler for a 36' goose over the winter so I have a few things to fix on the new trailer before heading down. Plan is to get the Cherokee 100% buttoned up this week, then hit the trailer the week before the race. Should be down to the wire

Haven't touched mine from KOH... I haven't even unloaded it. At some point I'll get to fixing it, hopefully this week...

I am gonna say about 530 (ish). The park should close at 5.
Lets plan on the drivers meeting at 5 in a location TBA. Most likely at the starting line. Which I am assuming is down in the lower lot like last year. Tech will be roaming Friday pm and Saturday am. If you are not Tech'ed in by 12:00 on sat come to the upper lot from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. I will do something to make it easy to find me... ez up... flag... sign... something...

I'm trying to be out there on Thursday night where is tech @? I have never been there and will be staying in the campground next to the park.
How long is the race? 2 hours or longer? btw still not done with the truck changed a few things and turned out to be a lot more work then expected. oh well, race day is pre run/ race.

Race will be 2 hours more or less - it usually runs a little long, i'd plan on 2:15.

Is anybody staying the night? We're undecided on staying and tipping a few back or heading back north after.

It was down to the "e" mark! lol. If its a good dry race and I'm running wide open, I'd have to refuel.
