Best In The West Series Races, WA state

The first race in the BEST in the WEST series at Straddleline ORV Park in McCleary WA was this past weekend. There are 5 more scheduled events to be held this year alone.

For more info check out their new FB page at:

https://www.facebook.com/BESTINTHEWEST4X4

The races last year were awesome, this year looks to be even better for both spectators and racers. There will be prizes from Master Pull and 4WP for all three classes. These races are a similar style to the Dirt Riot races, but a smaller venue and course for now.

Definitely a blast. Nice to have something like this in WA state and hopefully sustainable.

Congrats to Beau for putting these on and coordinating, that props to Master-Pull for sponsorship.

I'm partial to this pic

That is a cool picture, how many hours with a pressure washer did it take to clean the rig up after the race?

Not yet, letting the rain take care of that for now

Next race is May 6th, might just get a quicky wash before that before it gets all sloppy again. Need to alteast wash it enought to see if anything is broken or loose.

I'm assuming "stock frame" means the entire frame, front to back? I was hoping I wouldn't have to run my rig under unlimited.

Looks like you would be in stock mod if your running the one in your avatar, what size tires, ect...?

General rules as they have been translated in the past:

If it still mostly the rig it originated as, retains pretty much the stock drivetrain and runs 35" or smaller tires = Stock Class

If it looks like a typical Trail Rig, Started as a Factory Rig and Runs 37" or smaller tires = Mod Class

If its started as a pile of tube, or is more tube than anything else, a buggy or Ultra 4 car and/or runs bigger than 37's = Unlimited.

As the popularity increases the rules and classifying might get stricter. I also know in the past if someone had enough mods to not be a in a certain class, but was GREATLY outclassed in the category they fit in, us drivers have in the lower class have agreed to bend the rules. But again, as the popularity increases, that may not be so possible.

Show up, have fun, try not to break your junk too much. Truth be told for a racing event, its pretty damn cheap.

Probably Should update that picture. That's what it was like before tearing it down for a U4 Mod build. It was on 40's then.

Perfect, thanks! Definitely going to be unlimited then as I'm way more tube than factory jeep at this point.

lots of video, youtube straddleline orv or go to nw-wheelers.com and there is 15page thread on it. The races are no more than 10min long and you are guaranteed two runs. One races consists of 2.5 laps with you and one other car. Its a very tight course %90 of which is in the trees, there is a small viewing area where you can watch the start/finish line and where the cars will pass twice.

If you are within a couple hrs drive i recommend going i drove 4 hrs to go to the last one and will be at everyone from here on out. Beau is the man running the show and is doing a great job bringing some sort of racing to the northwest and we need to support it.
