King of the Hammers 2013 will be Friday, February 8th. There will be a banner on Ultra4 next week with those dates.

On the RCQ recap show Dave announced that the EMC will be moved to the Thursday, and the Moto race will be on the Sunday before.

The closest is Ontario, California - Southwest and most all major airlines fly in there direct.

If you are from the east you may find better deals into LAX, but will add about an hour of drive time and some awesome LA Traffic into the mix ;-)

We roughed it in the back of an SUV two years ago and it was COLD!! I would suggest getting a good sleeping bag for your son and yourself. Also posting up a few weeks before to see if someone has room in a camper would probably be a good idea.

Great news on moving the EMC race to later in the week!!

If you have to motor that way, Do the SUV over a tent but BOTH will be manly. Tent camping should not be relied upon. I think most will not recommend kids. There is a LOT of movement around Town, and most are not watching for small tykes. I believe they are even banned from the pit areas. Facilites, beyond food stands and potties is nil. Many go for a motel "locally", but would probably recommend staying the night before the race at Hammertown. The roads get clogged and closed early.

Don't take the word Hammertown too seriously.....Kind of like Bodie, Darwin, Tecopa, etc.

Will LCQ still be Tuesday and Wednesday?
Also to clarify, the EMC is the day before the Main, or a week before?

As someone with a little expierence flying from the Right Coast you can fly into either Palm Springs or Ontario. Both are relatively the same distance and depending on the year same price. I like Ontario Airport better then Palm Springs for no other reason than you have to walk far at Palm Springs. Both are relatively small and easy to get through TSA and security,

It's not going to be a week before. There are to many people that have to take work off to help the race. That is why he had it Sunday last year. I really hope it's Thursday. That would give the EMC guys like myself more time to test.

This is great news for everyone except those planning to race EMC and the main race. Instead of 4 days to prep after the EMC race, now you get one afternoon.

Been waiting for this, very keen to get travel booked and sorted out early. Planning on being over there for 4 weeks.
Was it Corona that had RVs and caravans delivered to the lake bed last year? Would be great to turn up and everything be set up for us.

Kinda put us in a jam too. We had hoped to bring two cars, but I'll be at tech/contingency.

Always going to be bad news for someone! Qualify at a prior event and you won't have to submit yourself to the grind of the EMC...unless you want to!

It's not about trying to qualify for the main event. We already have a spot. It's more along the lines of getting more bang for our 2500 mile drive buck.
