Pro Rocks website?

Does Pro Rocks have a website? I looked all over and can't find anything. Trying to find out what their rules are.

ProRocks has done an awesome job of updating their site immidiatly after each event or new piece of news. When's the last time RCAA has done anything to their site and how worthwhile was that change?
Bob may have not done the best job in the past, but IMHO ProRocks has been awesome this year.
Their next event is July 26-27 at Avalanche Ranch.

Yep thats why I was doing the research, looks like we might try to go to that event!

Do they put on good events? How are the courses? What is the turnout usually like, spectators, and competitors?

I liked them...

I ran 5/6 of the 2002 events, had fun at all of them. The courses are more technical, quite a bit less opportunity for rollover type carnage though people still roll. Some would say easier, I'd say it leans more towards different and from what I've heard from drivers there have been some wild stuff (Johnson Valley comes to mind).

Bob has made a lot of improvements since last yr and I'd be running his events if I had more vacation time available. He does not have the staffing and organization of some of the bigger shows so aspects can be a little more casual but it's still fun and good experience/practice. Good luck with the new buggy.

Bob puts on a very smooth event...no more controversy than the other events and maybe even less as there are not so many competitors that the day runs much faster and more laid back.

The courses are like Ken said, technical...not easy, just different from the put em up a big wall and roll em 100 feet mentality. Not that that is bad, it's just different. If the courses were easy, you would see perfect scores from more than one competitor...look at the results from this year and you'll see that the scores actually compare in the ballpark of the other events...nobody is cleaning the courses perfectly, not even the best guys.

Spectator turnout...is less than most...much less. But that is where Bob is not really focusing. He is focusing more on the Superlift TV productions they are doing at the events. My sponsors are much happier by me going to ProRock events and getting a spot on TV in front of potentially millions versus, 10,000 spectators at a UROC event. People don't realise that spectators are NOT that important...as long as there is a TV Production crew there. Now that would be a different story if you needed the spectator's gate fees for the event to survive, but that's an old mistake learned by Mud Racers and Monster Trucks...TV is ALWAYS priority ONE. If you are focusing on the show for the people there, you ultimatly make less than if you focus on the show for television. RCAA finally listned to this reasoning and did the VNR in Moab...We had hundreds of millions of viewings from that and everyone's sponsors will be much happier and more willing to support the events/competitors.

Competitor turnout is low...Last event, we had under 20. I guess people are still remembering Hazel's past mistakes and I don't blame them...but...the field of competitors includes Jon and Lar in Tiny, Tracy and Don, Jason and Trav, and Curt Hildebrand...they all seem to be happy with the way things are going. Looking at it in another direction...the pay is very high for the amount of competitors that have been coming as Bob is now guaranteeing minimum prize money. Your odds of getting a good paycheck are MUCH higher in ProRocks as they are using this guarantee system and there are not too many people coming out. Also, it is nice to be finished with each competition day around 2pm

As I see it, the benefits of competing in ProRocks now outweight the resentments of past problems. Bob made mistakes and it APPEARS so far that he is doing a good job of avoiding making the same mistakes again.

What he said...

Dustin made a lot of good points- The TV thing is pretty big- If I can trust the info I got, I'll have a feature on Superlift TV next wk starting Wednesday at 10 eastern- You can bet I'll be sending tapes to all my sponsors.... and potential sponsors.

I agree to a point, however spectators are always important. You're not going to find sponsors to back your TV showings year in & year out if you show empty bleachers (or empty rocks in your case) at most of your events. And TV will only support so much of this stuff before it's oversaturation. On the contrary, for a traveling sanctioning body, you're playing to a different group of on-site spectators every event. Now, I will certainly agree that in the presence of TV, making $$$ off your spectators is low priority. But, I think it makes a much nicer show with a packed house, which is why my intent is to drastically lower the admissions price if & when I get my events on TV (where they belong ).

As for the monster truck guys, that was a no-brainer. Clear Channel owns the company that produces the events, the TV crew & equipment, the channel on which they air, most of the trucks you see.....hell, they even own the friggin' DIRT in the stadiums (and some of the stadiums too). Liiiiiiiiiiiiitle tougher for the rest of us to get a TV gig. Oh, and the top mud racing circuit is only going to be on TV 2-3 events a year despite averaging 10-20,000 spectators per event. And they've eliminated any towns where spectator turnout was marginal. So, ya still have to get SOMETHING out of the on-site spectators. Plus, I think you'll find that in general, the folks who produce quality shows for the on-site spectators are the same ones who produce quality entertainment for TV

We had a ball in Mod-Stock at the Farmington event.
There were only eight rigs but what a line up!
Waggoner, Mellow, Sisson, Webster, Crook, Schwiesow, ...
Plus, we all got along and rooted each other on.
And no one will say the coarses were easy.
But, they let us walk each coarse in a group and spectate each try.
It was like being on a trail ride with the best there is ...
... and the best training ground any rookie could ask for.

Garret Sisson, Cathy Crook, & Jeff Mellow

The "Princess", my spotter Mike Bulloch, Garret and Jeff

... yes, they even let me run my classic 'hoodless hot rod' look in Pro-ROCK ...

Don't forget to mention how Mello and company fixed Cody's rig for him before the comp, and then watched Cody win
