Can UROC go 30 days without making rule changes?
I am having trouble keeping up with the rule changes that keep being made.
I am trying to build a rig for the Super Stock Class, and am well on my way. A few months ago, I changed out my shock configuration, and since "No cutting of the body" was allowed, I selected my shock length on the distance from the axle to the highest point on the frame I could find, instead of going through the tub. Now, as of 8-12, you can cut the body for the shocks, fuel tank, and lines. I know the rule change thing has been bitched about before, but it is starting to get under my skin. What do all you veteran competitors do to keep from not breaking the rules? Do you wait until a week before an event to make the final adjustmants to your rig so that you can stay in class? Is there a cut-off date for a sanctioning body to stop making changes before an event?

I think supercrawl will be the final rules. Get use to the changes it happens in all the classes and all the sanctioning bodies. I would imagine the stock class will get out of hand just like the legend class did.

I've been running virtually the same Jeep since '99, there are 100 little things I'd like to do for performance but don't have the time to do them ,let alone undo them when someone changes their mind. So this has been frustrating me for a while too.
All these promoters need more entries in stock class. Pro Rock thinks that he started the stock class and then the other guys cut him out of the loop by opening up their rules so that the 12 or so guys running would modify and no longer be legal for Pro Rock. So, in turn , he opened up his rules (and ignored rules) to get more in his class. This hasn't increased the class size at all! I tried to explain to Bob and others that there are dozens of guys (and girls , Kathy) that would fill this class if these promoters would set and STICK TO their rules. Maybe we need to start a list of people who would run ,or run more , if they though they could still be cometitive 2 years in a row in the SAME rig.

The one change they need is the word stock! They will all be far from stock. Stock class should be if you can't buy it off the shelf you can't use it. If guys have problems w/ that they should try another class thats why they have more than one class. The stock classes look like they are already going over board.

DRIVERS UNION!!!
I've been saying it over and over again Said it to Craig and Dave when we were racing ARCA and they were the competitors. Now Craig gets to write the rules. Hazel is the only one who didn't sound scared of the idea. Either quit or quit crying or do something about it. The promotors are exercising good business sense in protecting THEIR interests, who can blame them? What are we doing? You can't expect the event promoters to sacrifice their interests for our convenience voluntarily. For the last 4 years the only consistant rule is that the rules will change. Yes, there should be a set of unchangable rules set far enough in advance of the next season that compliance would be possible for everyone. Who sets the rules when you have 5 different sets of rules run by 10 different people? If not a competitors org. then who? Will Ranch screw Craig while Craig screws Bob? While Rich agrees or fails to agree with rule #9983.45.7 subsection "a", but refuses to recognize the daylight savings widget rule? whatever please give me a break. UNION |

I don't compete because the rules are not clear and are constantly changing. I really want to build a legand class rig for next season but have unanswered questions about what is legal and what is not. The best advice I can get is that from other competitors, not UROC.

And most of the parts on most of the stock rigs are off the shelf. Sure there may be some custom welding for brackets and such, but I think that in general, most stock class rigs are just very well built trail rigs. The problem with being 100% off the shelf, is that I do not think there is a manufacturer out there making a complete off the shelf roll cage that I would trust in the event of a roll-over, thus the reason to make one.
