Ok, with the way the classifications are now and the UROC break down of events, what are your plans?
Mind you I'm asking the Modified Stock competitors from the now gone RCAA Series, ProRock and CalROCS. Are you going to rebuild your rig to fit the UROC Legends/Modified class? or Are you going to run the above class as your vehicle is set up now? or Are you going to build another vehicle to fit the class? or Are you jusut going to run one of the other series available? Just wondering

The reason I started this poll was to find out what we might really see in the Modified Stock class this year. I'm sure Bob wanted to know as well as I. Rich

I will probably run ProROCK and CalROCS this year - I am not going to rebuild my rig to become a "Legends" Vehicle for UROC. I like the Stock Class and want to continue to compete in this class. I am just relieved that there are other Events that still want to recognize this class. I've competed in the Unlimited Class before...and really have no desire to do that again...I have more fun in the stock class!

since im new to this i will say this.......im setting up my jeep per the rules of calrocs. i really dont see myself running urocs or wanting to run urocs. calrocs fits the image and direction that i see myself going in competition rock crawling.

I'm going to run my old rig in the west series till I get my new one built. Since they have jacked around w/ the new rules I can't get my new rig done for the first event.

I've been trying to build a Mod-Stock rig for over a year now but with every rule change there has been a set back.
No sooner than we finish one step then it becomes illegal in UROC, we fix it ... then suddenly it's legal again ... such as the case with moving steering gear box out of harm's way. Even though I did barely qualify for the Extereme West series it seems pretty rediculous to slap a set of 37's on a full bodied true Mod-Stock rig to try compete against the Modifieds ... especially now that they can be narrowed, stretched, and barely need to have a semblance of a body shell. Another local here has just given up for now building his Mod-Stock project, and I don't blame him. Cal-Rocks is looking awfully tempting to more than just a few Rich, because UROC has effectivly destroyed and disowned their Stock Class. |

The stock mod class has had so many rule changes, is the hardest class to maintain the rig and drive without breaking. Period. I really did go to the buggy class because the rules got so "soft" on what was stock, that I felt that my old cj just wouldn't be competitive. There are a couple of people that can just plain drive in the stock class, and they could win in anything, so using them doesn't make the best example.
I really liked the rules of two years ago, where ProRock and CalROCs where very similar and very stock. I had a dana 30 in the front and felt that I was not totally out-classed by the competiton. If the rules stay on the stock side, more people may come to a local event and see how they fair against the people running the series, and them may join the whole series the following year. One thing that is important is keeping the rules similar year after year for the grassroots aspect of the class. I also think that the courses should stay light on body damage. This way, people would not be afraid to "total" there ride on one competition. If the class was to borring or easy for the top drivers, they can always move to another class, but I think that 50 stock class drivers would be way better that 12 and that the only way to get 50 is to make it less damaging, and keep similar rules year after year, and also to enforce the rules. If someone shows up at tech in with a bobbed body or boat sides and that is not allowed in the rules, don't let them run. Most of the time the stock lines are different, so making them even easier shouldn't be a problem. I don't know if the tire manufactures would freek out, but maybe even a 33" tire limit. That way parts would last longer and the challenges could be more technical. Just an idea...there are a TON of people on the trails every time I go wheeling, lets get some of them out to the events!

I totaly agree with Jason, except for the buggy part as I cannot afford to do that at this point. So I will be drinking beer on the trail with my Mod Stock rig and showing all those guys that you can run 35" tires through little sluice still
