I've seen the Offload Power Products Cummins build going on so far. What else is being built for the trip to help me pass the time?

I saw on facebook that they are building Christian's CJ-6. Using a JK frame, skyjacker suspension and a small Cummins.

I still haven't seen the 2017 application yet either.

It's nice to see another person from the north east (Rausch Creek) apply, Looks like your picture was taken at the back of comp course.. (I almost thought your Jeep was Butch's from RC for a minute)

Here's the most recent picture of my jeep, I just added a aluminum roof skin to my cage.

All we can do is wait and see now..

Nice jeep if you get in looks like you'll have to come up with a way to mount a spare tire but you'll have plenty of room if you take the back seat out for gear.
I don't know any butchs I'll be at rausch creek this weekend testing a friends rig.
I'm wondering what part of the country there planning for this year.

Lol.. I wonder the same thing. Here's what I have on my white board at my office..

2016-Rubicon Trail Death Valley
2015- Harlan, and Ohio
2014- Iowa Illinois
2013- Gulches, Georgia, Florida
2012- North West
2011- Nevada, Oklahoma
2010- North East

We will see..

As far as a spare tire location, my plan is to bend up some tube, and utilize some tube clamps and mount it off my cage a little higher than a factory spare in the relatively same location, and ditch the extra speakers.

If you don't get in, what do you have for trips planned this year? We're headed to Harlan in April for a week, I'm sure I'll hit Rausch and Big Dogs at least once, most likely Rock Run in August, and possibly AOAA (I haven't been there as of yet) at some point.

Im wondering if they are doing the north east this time?
Thats a good idea on the spare can you still install a soft top
i plan on putting one on if i get it just incase for those rain days maybe like a frame less one.

But for wheeling this year i don't have any places planned we are going to aoaa soon probably next month that will be my first time. But i want to spreed out some like northeast field & forest in NH and rock run.Its just a mater of convincing my friends to join me .Big dogs is great ive been there a few times but not yet with this rig.

Yeah.. I agree, if you look close at my cage, I have tabs welded so a factory soft top works on my jeep. I have a 4 year old, so keeping him warm on cold trips is a priority.

Field and Forest is on our TO Do list as well, but it's tough with them only have 2-3 public weekends.

I'm probably heading to Rock Run for their rock crawling event on August 5th I believe.

So for those of us that have applied..

Has your email been opened yet?

On my work email it automatically puts and icon on any sent email until it's opened..

Maybe they will open all of the applications together after they've all been received?

Glad to see the enthusiasm and a UA2017 thread up already. I've got my fingers crossed hoping I'll get to go again as the returning reader.

Last year I didn't hear anything until 6 weeks before check-in day. So be patient.

Things were basically reset when Christian Hazel took over the magazine (and the trip) from Pewe. Last year was pretty rushed, but I think that the trip ended up great and a lot of people got to mark some famous trails off of their bucket list. In my opinion that is what the Ultimate Adventure should be about.

If you don't get invited, realize that the issue might be as simple as "there is already a sponsor bringing an orange Jeep" that is completely out of your hands. I know that sounds dumb but sometimes those are the factors that the editors have to consider when choosing readers to invite. All the rigs posted here look very capable and well sorted out!

First time I put in my app, luckily no sponsors wheel an H3.

Just need to finish the cage and swap my front axle. Been wheeling at hammers and doing long road trips for a few years now trying to prep myself for UA.

Good luck to all!

Just checked out your build. The H3 is sweet! It would be a great set up for UA. It's different enough you should have a decent shot of getting noticed among all the applications.

I recommend not waiting until 2 weeks before check in to get the cage started like I did last year. Way too much stress!

I'm working as quick as I can to get my cage changes wrapped up and painted for pictures so it actually looks decent for once. It spent last summer mostly primer because I wanted to wheel it more than I wanted to paint. This will be my 3rd year applying, made the dirty dozen the first year, but that was when Rick was still running it.

Thanks! I'm planning on finishing it soon. At this point I figure UA or not I need a cage for safety. So hopefully it will be finished before they start calling people.

I was amazed at how much you got done in a short amount of time. I know no matter what state the rig is in there will always be late nights in the driveway before the trip.
