New construction at Rockport for RROCK comps
Rockport Off-Road Park and Cooper Tire began construction of new stages to the TALLDOG rockcrawl courses this weekend. The first addition to the new stages consist of 80 degree vertical, concrete poured climb/decent on 15' banks with large boulders added in. Rockport will be working continuously for the next several weeks before the first comps May 14th and 15th on this and other new obstacles to challenge the larger numbers of Super Modified rigs entered in this years comps.
These are 100% payback with no series fees comps. $500 bonus to series winners plus great sponsor prizes. For comp info and entry check out www.rrock.us Park info: www.rorp.com Cooper Tire: www.coopertire.com |

I would love to come up to your comps and compete in the series if I could get into the modified stock class (the class I normally run). As the way it stands I am driving 10 hours further on may 14th and 15th to be able to compete in the class that I belong in. Maybe next year.

I look forward to the comp. Hopefully my rig will be done in time. If it is, I won't have any seat time prior to.
BTW, the construction is looking good. I was hoping that was the area in which the courses were being built. That is a steep climb. I can't wait to see the finished project! |

im curious.. are the competitors that are assisting with the design, building, and more importantly, TESTING, of the new additions, going to be allowed to compete on it first year? |

Hey Chrispy,
Cory says that he is not competing this year, he's sticking to judging. All of the existing stages are going to be "freshened-up" just before comp time, just like stage 3 was for the Top Shop comp Being this close to comp time and the amount of new construction going on between now and then, there won't be time for "testing". Several new stages are being added. |

Acually, Iam undecided on running in the comp or not. And so everyone knows I havent assisted in building any stages that I would be running, and since Tom changes all of the stages a couple days before each comp. I cant see were anyone would have any advantage?

There are no advantages. That's just the thing. Anyone that says otherwise is an asshat.
Cory wouldn't see the final stages before us, and if he did, so what. Stop the whinning. The rocks may move, the gates may move. A gate moved 1/2 an inch CAN change a whole line. Cory, if your thinking about competeing, I say go for it. It'll be fun! Plus the contegencies would be awesome to win! |
