Yeowch! What's the driver to do in this situation, counter-steer until it starts to barrel-roll, then shut it off, hold on, and start drawing a vacuum to the seat cushion?

Full tear-down to check everything, but if shut-down was accomplished, is the motor mostly intact (other than the bits ripped off of it in the tumble)>

I think the chassis & engine survived pretty well, but they had to cut the cage off to get him out. He got knocked for a loop & spent the night in the hospital as a precautionary measure. Glad to hear he's okay. Real nice guy, he's raced at my events before. Back to the car damage, buddy of mine had his injector hat ripped off in a roll & that messed a lot of stuff up.

man nasty wreck. couple of years back we had a guy in one of those 3 second cars come to our local mud bog. cleared the way and let him rip on it. he hit the berm from the pit and went upside down in the pit. I always have thought about why these guys build them so narrow and really light with the speeds they are hitting is crazy. a little wider and some aluminum over their heads I would think would help a lot. Saw lots of nasty wrecks up in bloomsburg back in the day too.

Narrow is kind of a catch-22. The wider cars are actually much more prone to getting sideways than the narrow ones, but the narrower ones roll easier once they get bent out of shape.

WOW!!!

Warning - front tires may come off at 3+ rolls!

Awesome series of pics. Kinda nest but sad to see the bits ripping off as it goes over and over.

Less damage than I'd have thought - props to the designer / builder.

Glad to hear the driver is OK. Big props to the designer / builder!

I'm thinking super wide. just a little bit wider than what they have now. if one of those bars really broke in they would be picking them outta their teeth. why not moonbuggy wide. plenly of room around the driver but still plentyt small.

I was watching his arms and fuel cell. His arms did pretty good, and he only had one line come off the tank. He did lose a coolant line too. One hell of a wreck and an AWESOME job photographing it.

Cool! Those dragster look hard to control and keep in a straight line!

Yeah, a lot of guys wonder what's so tough about just running a straight line - keeping it in a straight line IS the tough part LOL.
