V2R Class 4400 rules?
Sorry for another V2R thread, but does anyone have any info on the class specific rules?
We are gathering parts to start prepping for V2R. Is there anything in particular that are going to be written in the rules? Tire size? Wheelbase? etc. Thanks!!! Rob |

Jeff is finishing the rules with help from BillaVista. As far as I know, there is no wheelbase or tire size rules. At a bare bones, you need a transfer case with operating 4 low, and you have to race that car in the '10 KOH if you qualify. That rule is not to keep you from building new, it's made to keep everyone honest so they don't show up in a 'desert' car that they don't have any intention on driving in the rocks. d

Rob and others,
You can all give me a call 4:00 am- 8:00pm west coast time Monday-friday if you need answers. If you need my number PM me. Email is knoll1706@yahoo.com I get email on my cell phone, so I can reply pretty quick even from work. I do have a job, so sometimes It will take me a few to get back to you. The Rules. We are really close on KOH rules, but they do not currently include the BITD ammendment. For the 2009 V2R race its pretty much as Dave put it. You will have to race the same car at KOH. There is already a class for jeepspeeds and 4x4 7 trucks. Sand baggers are not welcome at this time. The reason for this is that we have worked a deal for a reduced entry fee, and are attempting to generate exclusive media for our group. There has been talks of sharing pit support as well, so that every team has a fighting chance without killing the budget. In a nut shell, Jeepspeeds can race if they plan on running the same car in KOH. The most important things are that you pass safety tech inspection. 4471 failed on a number of items at the MORE race and we had to scramble to get them fixed. Get the rule book online and make sure you meet the general requirements. a few examples. Double D rings on the shoulder belts that loop around a tube. rearward facing number, the fuel vent line looped properly, Fire wall issues, and a splash shield between the fuel cell and drivers. For the most part I wrote the new KOH rules, so that you would also pass tech for BITD. The only thing missing is the class limits. I need to do that still, I am open to your thoughts, for consideration. To me it needs to be an operating 4x4, with a transfer case.

Tire size was the big concern....I still think we are going to run 37's, but it was suggested by a friend here to run 35's. But other than that, everything else should be good.
What is meany by "D-rings" on the seat belts? I saw that in the rule book yesterday, and figured it was word semantics since my seat belts are mounted around the tube as per the manufactures instructions. Rob |

I feel that it is "honest" as the truck will be raced in the 2010 KOH anyway. Can you just confirm that we are still good here before I keep planning and purchasing? I have some rebuilding to do anyway and want to incorporate changes for the race. Thanks. |

The way around it is to set the belts at the right length and send them back to the manufacturer to have them stitched at that length with a clip on or bolt on end.

Indy Will;Who needs V2R pit help?
![]() Raising hand..... Just about every team needs help and most of us have been talking about sharing what ever we can to see as many cars finish as possible. I agree on the Dbl D ring( BS). Its something they totally check and enforce. Just thread an additional Buckle in there. Is it even really called a D ring? The best part is that every vendor has boxes of them for sale on site.

Will is just hatin' because he beat us in the race (although we beat him in the rock crawl
) and his contingency prize was an autographed picture of us!!![]() ![]() ![]() Seriously, Will, we have plenty of room if you want to fly into Vegas and fly out of Reno. We are kinda packed in my F250 on the way out (but maybe not on the way back....depends what everyone else has going on i.e. Billy and Steve are business owners and may have to come back via plane). Travis W. has expressed intrest, and him flying out was what we talked about. Sleeping Thursday and Friday will be in my 24' enclosed, but the other nights will be in hotels (Vegas and then in Reno)....on us!! Going to be a BLAST!!! Rob |

I like that idea, I was thinking of asking for pit help as I'm going to have a very limited support. If we do a common KOH pit support to help all vehicles make it across the finish line would be great!

Hey Kevin, Doug and Wendy are trying to talk my wife into letting me go to pit for you. I'm trying to get out of another weekend of going down to the inlaws.

Jeff or Dave
In the General rules they want to see a 2" dia. cage for any car weighing over 4,000#. Since I own a heavy fat bastard with a 1 3/4" cage am I out? There is no way I am going to reduce the weight of it 800lbs to get under 4,000lbs. With full fuel, drivers, Spare tire and tools it was 5,300 at the start of KOH this year. Just trying to see if We can put something together for this race. |

I remember talking about this at the 1000 last year, and that weight was dry.....no tools, fuel, driver/co-driver, parts, etc. Doesnt make since to me that it would be like that, but thats what the guys were saying. At 2700# we are good with 1.75 x .120. Just need to add a few bars to meet the general rules of design.

Where do you guys get the numbers for your racers and support trucks?? I can get them off line, but its easier if I call a place that is in the know with the sizes and stuff. Plus I will need quite a few.

my windsheild number's for my dodge came from the bike shop. but sign pro's, yea i know if you google it, there's 1000 of them at least, but the particular one in so cal that goes to races is pretty cheap for doing sticker packet's and so on for cars. the guy's a little grumpy though but he cut's number's, names, etc at tech while you wait if needed.

has the koh rule book with BITD amendment be released yet or am I about to get flamed because I didn't search enough?
If it hasn't, which class of vehicle's rules should I be following to make sure I can make tech? Any body know how many rigs are going run?

You probably have alred seen this, but here is the link to the BITD rulebook. As of right now, just pay attention to the first 26 pages. I printed it out, then walked around the truck and highlighted EVERYTHING that needs to be addressed.
http://www.bitd.com/images/stories/p...CTRuleBook.pdf A few things I had (currently) to address--- -Roll cage design-Just have to add 2 bars. -Fuel Cell-Had to add a safety cell -Add double d-rings to wrap around harnesses -add floor board panels (I have expanded steel) -Full covered roof (I already had this, but alot may not) -4" Black Numbers with Yellow background on the front, 6" Black Numbers with yellow black ground on rear, 10 black numbers with yellow background behind and in-line with passengers. -Rear facing Blue light Still havent come up with one, anyone have any ideas on the best ones -Finish the firewall (add to small patch panels on the lower sides) -Use metallic tape to cover large holes in firewall -Make rear firewall between passengers and battery/fuel cell -All support vehicles have 4" white number on rear, both sides, and windsheild -Plus the General Rules where they talk about conduct of teams, if your amber goes out you have to fix it as soon as reasonable, etc, etc, etc -all drivers-codrivers must have BITD memberships, -Iritracker must be ordered A lot of stuff The only Ultra 4 specific things I have heard is -4 wheel drive must work, must have a winch, and if you qualify for KOH, you must show up to KOH in that vehicle. There was talk of minium tire size, wheelbase, etc, but the purpose was to keep "desert Specific" cars from entering. I am not too worried about what ever ese jeff and Dave come up with in that respect. Good luck, Rob Last edited by yield2me; 06-24-2009 at 10:02 AM. |

i was thinking that rule was to prohibit sandbaggers from joining the rock rigs. But I'm not sure.
