The road to Reno...V2R coverage
Well, we are loaded up and heading out in a few minutes. We are going to use the next few days of travel to work out any bugs with sending pics and updating the PBB masses of the race.
Here is the set-up: Team 4406 will be calling, texting, and sending pics via cell phone to our Remote Race Manager in Missouri. He (JandB) who is my Uncle , has 2 computers, several white boards, paper, stickies, etc, set-up at his house and will be following us on IRC keeping the chase guys up to date.He will use this thread to post up whats going on with not only us, but the other 4400 guys. He will be reporting from what the guys in the pits tell him and post pics as everyone comes through. Hopefully this will work, and like I said, we are going to use the travel days to work it all out so its good starting Wednesday at tech. It wont be "live" but within 30 mintues or so. Feel free to post up with questions/comments/whatever Should be cool, but may also turn into a disaster!! See ya!! Rob and the 4406 crew Last edited by yield2me; 08-15-2009 at 10:30 AM. |

Great news Rob.
We'll be doing the same. Pirate4x4 has contracted with Charlene Bower to provide updates. Charlene will be hitching a ride with our team. She'll be getting news directly from the team as well as our remote race manager who is, ironically, in North Carolina ![]() It's going to be fun. Just stopped home to get the trailer, heading back down, testing tomorrow. Dave

I'll also be updating my blog on a regular basis:
http://mercermotorsports.blogspot.com My intent is to provide some insider or behind the scenes perspective as part of team Unite. I'll have a couple HD cams as well as my new vio onboard cam working overtime to help provide a unique view of what it takes to run in this race. I'm not a filming pro nor do I have any commercial interest in this coverage. I'm just hoping to help everyone at home get a feel for what goes on behind the scenes. Given the crew and personalities we have out in the desert for several days, it should be entertaining at the very least. No tweets, just cool pics and video. It should be fun. ...doc

JandB, My wife( still in the gay bay, working), is going to follow your thread, your coverage looks fine so far, wish I could follow it myself. I'm sure I'll read it next week, when we get home. Chasing doesn't lend itself to much race viewing, except for pit time, so we are all counting on you for whatever Rob and the crew have to say. Tell Rob not to be stingy with descriptions, I want to know what happened, and what I wasn't able to see. Tell Rob I've got my Sharpie ready for Wednesday, and Thank you for your time and effort to satiate some of our racing appetite. |

I'm just hoping he doesn't get caught up in the moment, and forgets to talk( like that could happen). Poor guy, he could have been done with his buggy 3 weeks ago, but he kept us all updated on his progress. Several times I wanted to tell him forget about the updates, and get the car done, now I'm glad I was selfish. I admire him so much for his dedication, and focus, if anyone deserves to be in this race, it's Rob. This man is a racers racer.
JandB, keep up the good work, we're all counting on ya. |
