I had a great time racing this weekend! Miller Motorsports park is an amazing venue, and the racing format was really cool!

In the end, the race was a first class deal with a super car count, drivers, and awesome racing. Racing is racing so there are stories. The format and location was new which seemed an issue for HK and the racers...All should be bitchen next year. 24++ laps on that course for the day was tough on cars, and most drivers were sore even though it may not have looked it. A lot was on the limiter, and the gunnite sections unforgiving. The short track turns became bicycling on two wheels as the track went from wet slick to dry tacky, and broken or stuck cars took the good lines in the rock section. Only Dave knew to add a nerf bar to his buggy. (Is that fair?)
Two days of prior practice and qualification also stressed the cars. Good thing about SLC is that it is the main 4x4 hub of parts for Moab and the "Mid" West. A quick cell contact and drive into town and you were probably back in business. Hey Gals! There was even showers in the facilities. Super Bikes, Drifting, SCCA racing, and Karting was also entertaining for those with the time. Congratulations to those qualifying for the BIG event. It was earned! Now for the stories....which should be interesting. |

That was pretty bitchin'. I got shanghai'ed by Lil' Rich into flagging, which was basically, awesome views all day. I can never understand why all events need volunteers, you're RIGHT THERE! Anyway I had a freakin' great time, and got to meet a few PBB'ers in the bargain, AND get to Thursday night's dinner. It was nice to meet everyone, except Roxy, who was horrible
. The track conditions were interesting. Our local dirt is all old seabed, and it's WICKED SLICK when it's wet, so drivers were having a good time for a few laps after the water truck got done. Watching cars racing through the rock course was.. interesting, glad no one fell off under the bridge. I enjoyed the hell out of watching that race. Hell yeah.

My family and I had a great time at this event! You cannot beat the facilities at Miller Motorsports Park! It was Lucky Dog Racings first time racing on a short course like that in an Ultra4 car and all we can say is that we're hooked! The Sniper Fab car worked flawlessly. Those 35" Maxxis sure made it hook!
Thank you everyone that made this event possible. -Levi Shirley |

I too was roped into flagging for the main racing on Saturday. It was by far the best off-road racing in the state of Utah. I'm sure that the race will run a bit more smoothly next time around since Dave, Lil' Rich and others will have an idea on what can be improved upon.
I got to be the 1st responder to #4441's flames on turn 2 during one of the final races. That was cool for me, but certainly not cool for Darren Henke. Didn't seem like much damage was done, so that's good. I think Shannon Campbell owes someone a new yellow flag since he ran mine over. That damn wind out there sucks every time. I cannot wait to be involved with this race again. Last edited by sami188; 07-19-2011 at 09:49 AM. |

Chill Dave... Pretty smart actually....What I meant, not what some may have thought... Sorry
In the early 70's I rode a ISDT qualifier in the East and a couple guys were running Bark Busters. Pretty adaptive out there. Now standard stuff everywhere. Last edited by ISDTBower; 07-19-2011 at 09:27 PM. |

It was a great time last weekend and we thought the venue was great - and for our first short course race - really had a great time.
No worries on the #4441 car, turns out the fire was caused by some heat shielding material (go figure) just above the exhaust and below the codog seat and there was no damage to the car. If anyone hears of anyone who has pictures of the car crossing the finish line with the flames coming out we'd love to see them. |
