IBEX DIY chassis kits by GOAT BUILT

Currently shipping Ibex 2 & 4-seat chassis kits. This is a 100% laser notched, CNC mandrel bent rock buggy tube chassis kit, shipped to you on a pallet, ready to weld together, detailed instructions are provided and fixturing brackets are available.

Basic chassis kits start at $2300
Full chassis tube kits with all bracing and necessary tubes are $3500
Shipping costs $200-$300

Check out my build thread for more information /forum/general-4x4-discussion/1040318-new-ibex-4-seat-chassis-goat-built.html

Back in September I started a new company, Goat Built, Inc. First on the list of products is a production tube buggy kit, sort of a buggy in a box. I have had this idea is my head for a few years now, started the design over a year ago, and have been hitting the Solidworks hard the last two months. All the tubes are laser notched and bent, just make a fixture base (or not if you have a nice table), assemble and weld it together yourself (of course I can assemble and weld it if you would like). Putting it together yourself takes a lot of cost out and is easily shippable on a pallet, $200-$300 to most places.

This chassis is an all purpose dual sport trail rig. Suspension is set up for KOH type wheeling, works great in the rocks, great in the desert. Not an IFS desert car or rock comp rig, but the best you can do in between. Of course you can race it in KOH type races, but most of us are recreational wheelers and want a well thought out, affordable, comfortable trail rig. Here are some of the key features and specs
  • 110" wheelbase
  • 54 wide chassis at the arm rail
  • 40" wide rear bench seat, that right, 40"!!!
  • 14" front/16" rear coil overs, will fit 2.0, 2.5 C/O or air shocks
  • air bumps front and rear
  • front mounted 28 x 19 radiator, with electric fan
  • full-hydro steering
  • 200' of USA made 1-3/4 x .120 DOM tubing plus 100' of 1-1/2 x .120 DOM tubing
  • will accommodate standard full width 60 front and any rear, or custom diffs, recommend 66" wms w/ 4.5" BS wheels
  • same front and rear lower links and same front and rear upper links
  • Uses the same length front and rear drive shafts, NON-CV!!!, (front is two piece)
  • FITS A STANDARD GM TRUCK 4.8/5.3/6.0 ENGINE!!! STOCK INTAKE, OIL PAN. EXHAUST MANIFOLDS AND ACCESSORIES (NEEDS AS P/S PUMP RELOCATION BRACKET)
  • will accommodated just about any other power-train combination
  • Fits standard Anti-rock sway bars

These chassis kits will be in stock on the shelf with optional brackets, mounts, panels, and accessories, everything needed to build a turn-key buggy, just add the parts (shocks, axles, power-train, etc)
  • 4-link suspension brackets
  • air bump mounts
  • shock mounts
  • skid plates
  • exhaust kit
  • radiator mounts
  • seat mounts
  • steering mounts
  • all panels: firewall, sides, floor, etc
  • roto-molded fuel tank
  • suspension links
  • uniquely designed hood
  • uniquely designed dash
  • motor mounts
  • any thing else required to assemble, just supply the parts.

Been following your build thread...very cool. Chassis looks simple and to the point while still having clean lines.

How much for a welded 4 seater full chassis?

I have to say .... i am impressed. I vaguely remember you having a pallet of tube laser cut by a friend fo your a few years back (4/5 years ago?) for a buggy build.

Im happy to see that you have followed through with the laster notching and brought it to the market.

the chassis is great, man. all of the thought with fixturing and marker holes on the main tubes ... the SW (i know how much time goes into that alone) modeling ... impressive, period.

You have the brought the DIY chassis to the next level. You have honestly made it as stupid proof as possible.

cheers.

It looks better in person than in Solidworks.

Copied from the build thread.

I was out at KOH most of the week with the chassis on display. It was a BIG HIT!! Most were blown away by the design, quality, attention to detail and price. I have quite a few serious buyers and dealers lined up. Thanks for the compliments to all that came by and checked it out.

If any one is wanting to build a new car for KOH 2013, let me know. I want to get some Ibex cars racing next year and will offer some great contingency money for any one finishing 2013 KOH in an Ibex chassis.

Here's the current status:
The 4-seat is pretty much good to go. I'm going to finish up a few things like motor mounts and seat mounts this week to be sure things fit and can order the first run from the laser. I can ship some the first week of March. Meanwhile, get this first buggy running and wheeling.

I'm going to finish the design on the 2-seat this week and order a prototype from the laser to start assembling.

It's going to take me a month or two to get all the details worked out like bill of materials, instructions, packaging, etc and expect to ship 2-seat chassis, brackets and accessories near the end of April.

I am doing an introductory offer for the first run of these chassis kits: Free fixture plates with a paid $1500 deposit ($200 value) by Feb 17th, preordered 4-seats will ship the first week of March, and 2 seats will ship end of April

If any one wants this chassis, its for sale. I need to make a few changes to it and figured it would be best to start over with a new one (and build the prototype 2-seat). I'm working on a big improvement (more later), but nothing is changing, just need to make some minor tweaks to some of the tubes and brackets to make every thing fit better so when you guys get a kit, every thing fits perfect. I want to keep the axles, tires and wheels but everything else can go. PM me if your interested.

I like the looks of the 4 seat buggy and the price points seems very reasonable. Have a few questions:

1.What is tubing material grade, diameter and wall thickness used?
2.You state chassis is set up for 14/16 COs. Could you make modifications to accommodate 18 COs and bypasses?

The material is 100% 1020 DOM, mostly 1-3/4 x .120 and the rest is 1-1/2 x .120

Yes, you certainly could fit 18" coil overs and bypasses on it. I wanted to keep the shocks under the hood line, 18" shocks would probably put them up through the hood. You would have to make your own brackets but could be done
