I was thinking about that yesterday. Anyone know the area around where tech will be?

How about some walmart parking lot party / camping thursday night?

If we can get close to tech it would be way easier with my hauler set up to not have to drive all over town!

Tech is in a mall parking lot, there is tons of room there to set up camp Thursday night. There was probably 20 trucks and trailers there last year.

Hotel but it is only a couple hundred yards walk away from that parking lot.

Didn't see the alien.

I can get my 5 yea old to draw you a map. It'll have dragons, dinosaurs and probably some type of man eating trap sort of thing on it. Will that help?

Just goes to show you Dave and Company have spoiled us. My understanding is that the main guy is just like us in the fact he works a real job and does this for fun so I'm very understanding that it isn't full on Hammerking or BITD type deal but damn after having full service racing going to this self service sucks.

Put a link to the GPS dump up. As long as it is a GPX file, or something that I can translate, I can do a simple map like what I did for KOH here: http://bit.ly/Ahlgrn

It can be viewed on iphone and android phones as long as you download the application called ArcGIS (free), and search on the map.

Once I have a GPS file, I can create the map quickly and link it with instructions on how to find the data on the phone apps.

Just goes to show you Dave and Company have spoiled us. As long as the 5 year old can include milemarkers and pit locations, I can deal with dinosaurs.

On the google directions from tech to the course, scroll over to the sand hill, has to be pretty far out and you will see it.

MDR, MORE, SNORE etc, smaller organizations have decent maps. Don't mean to criticize, just a little unimpressed.

As Loren said...there is a HUGE lot at tech. It used to be winrock mall, but now only has a few stores. There is macaroni grill in the parking lot, gardunos (where tech is), a toys r us, and a sporting goods store. Otherwise...just a huge empty lot. There is parking for hundreds of haulers, no problem.

Drew and Joe are normal people, with day jobs. And while I will admit the notice ahead of time has SUCKED, and its a bit pricey, they deserve a break. Heck, it wouldnt suprise me if Drew even races his own race!

From the track to southern/unser is 9 miles on the dot. There is a lot to do at southern/unser. New movie theater, dairy queen, sonic, chilis, little ceasers, wal greens, bobs, discount tire, billiards, mcdonalds, dairy queen, little anitas, 7-11, twisters, dominos, pizza hut, etc...

I haven't heard of a Jacks Crack out there. There is a Brians Crack (no association

)that looks like it might be the first section of the rocks (best I can tell from the map). Many of the obstacles have more than one name depending on which group you run with. During/After the race maybe it will be named after whoever is the first to jam it up

I'm bummed my Co driving position for this race fell through due to some pretty major electrical issues with the car. I'm in NM now and will be at tech and the race. If anybody needs help let me know.
