While at Punta San Carlos a number of years ago, we walked over to the fisherman to buy some of their catch, but the trucks had already left for market. On our way back to our camp, we stopped to help them pull their boats up on shore, and as a thanks they gave us a gunnysack full of crab claws! We steamed them in a big pot, and ate crab till I thought I was going to bust.

Do you guys always stay at hotels when possible or do any tent camping? Just curious of what you have found works the best.

This year we did zero camping with the exception of the crew from Colorado that camped the whole time.

My recomendation would be either camp the whole time or split it up a little depending on your route.
I liked our 1000 trip. We camped about everyother night or so.

you guys ever catch crap for dirty/muddy vehicles? crossed in tj on sunday and after the 5 hr wait to get from the cultural center to border, the agent was giving us crap cause our bikes had mud on them. he was considering sending us back to Mexico to clean them.

Two of our guys were called out for that in Tecate this time, we thought that they were joking.

luckily the truck that was with us got a quick wash in Ensenada before we loaded up and left. he had so much mud on his bedsides his mounting
tabs were failing.

The border agent threatened to send me back for mud on the Jeep. He let me through, but it was a lesson learned for the next trip.

I thought he was kidding when he mentioned it, but he wasn't.

8 of the 9 trucks I was with got denied at the border less than 2 weeks ago after a 5 day trip. Had to drive/tow through downtown TJ to find a car wash then wait in line for another 4 hrs. Not fun
